A beautiful day to die

The sun shun threw the open window and the faint sound of morning birds chirping in the distance created a soothing lull. It was a beautiful sunny day with crystal clear skys. Vanessa turned over in her sleep and opend her eyes. She was greeted with two big ,round,blue ones staring right back at her. She smiled up at them " hey babe" she said reaching over to her beloved dog Alice . Alice wagged her golden tail and licked Vanessa's face. It was the perfect morning and nothing could ruin it .....or so she thought.

Vanessa stepped out of her shower checking her phone. Lisa still hadn't sent her her morning text . She was getting worried , Lisa had sent her a morning text every day since they where 14 without fail. But now she wasn't even picking up her phone.

Vanessa sighed wrapping herself in a towel and walking into her walk-in closet. She shifted through her outfits as her dog lay in the corner watching her. She pulled out a t-shirt that she had gotten with Lisa at a concert and put it back .

" what should I wear?" She asked turning to Alice. Alice barked at her happily . She smiled grabbing a pair of floral leggings and one of her mom' sold sweaters

" good choice " she joked petting her head and laying them out on her bed and getting dressed.

After getting dressed she slipped her feet into her floral UGGS . She grabbed her keys and kissed Alice on the head

" be a good her girl. I'll be back soon" she said closing the door behind her. She ran down the hall and made a b-line for the stairs. Mrs. Norse opened her door popping her head out.

" why the hurry love?" She asked with her feline like smile . She had been like Vanessa's mom ever since she moved into her apartment and no mater what had been there for her. She was Vanessa's best friend other than Lisa .

" I'm going to check on Lisa . She didn't text me back and isn't picking up her phone " she said catching her breath on the bottom of the stairs . She needed to visit the gym . She thought to herself.

" I'm sure she just slept in Hun . " she assured her . The wrinkles next to her eyes started to appear on her tanned skin. She had a friendly and welcoming look to her . Vanessa nodded

" yea probably but she should take her medds " she said taking her keys out of her bag .

Mrs.norse nodded

" drive carefully honey" she yelled after Vanessa as she closed the door.

Vanessa ran out into the parking lot and unlocked the car throwing the bag in the back. She sat in the seat and adjusted her mirrors before slipping the keys in the ignition and starting the car. She put the car in drive ,backing out of her brown brick condo complex building's parking lot into the wide back road covered in a dusting if snow.

She drove about eight blocks then pulling into Lisa's driveway and parking the car. She looked at herself in the mirror , grabbing her bag out of the back seat and stepping out of the car. She looked up at the big building made out of a grey brick with lots of metal and windows lining the sides . She hated the city and big complexes like this but Lisa loved the futuristic feeling of it and who was Vanessa to argue with that?

She took in a deep breath and walked threw the revolving doors into the lobby . A wall of heat hit her as soon as she took her first step into the tilled room with a posh front desk made out of grey granite. It felt good against the November cold. It warmed her threw her coat and made her feel at home . She could see why Lisa liked it here , her building only had beat in the rooms but it wasn't all to bade she thought.

Waving to the man at the front desk she ran up to Lisa's room. Grabbing her keys and opening the door.

" Lisa! It's time to wake up" she yelled closing the door behind her . But nothing came from the room . It was way to quiet for her liking.

"Lisa?" She asked looking at the room . She started to take small steps towards he door and pushing it open a little .

" Lisa? Common this isn't funny ." She laughed half heartedly mostly out of fear . Still no answer , as she walked in the room she could see a figure on the bed laying motionless. Vanessa ran over to the bed shaking her .

" Lisa!! Lisa!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs but she wasn't moving.

Vanessa ran over to the telephone calling the front desk.

" hey Lis " the man said happily . Vanessa was fumbling with words.

" h-help something h-happened " she cried into the phone tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear . The man at the other end was silent for what seamed an eternity but was probably only ten seconds.

" I'll be right up" he said hanging up the phone. Vanessa slid down the wall holding the phone to her for dear life. She started to sob letting her tears ruin her makeup.

How ? How could this happen ? She thought as she cried . She didn't want to loose her friend , Lisa was like her other half. She could feel her heart break into little pieces and cut into her soul. Vanessa curled up into a ball on the floor as the door opened. Everything seemed like a dream . Men where running everywhere , a gurney passes her going into the room . She just sat there watching as they weal her friend out of the room . A hand falling off the gurney , completely limp and lifeless . She could feel her heart sink as she cried more and more. The tears not stopping ...she was broken and it was unlikely that she would be fixed .

One of the men sat next to her watching the people walk by with her .

" you know it's not all bad " he said to her , not taking his eyes off of the people walking past. She looked up at him , her tears stopping for the first time since she had started .

" really ? My best friend since before I can remember just died at 22! I can't imagine anything worse ." She said the tears starting back up . She was sutch a mess right now . Her hair that was perfectly combed was now messed up from running her hands threw it nervously , her makeup was running down her face and she didn't even want to think about what here eyes looked like. The man sighed .

"At least she died fast and at home " he said looking at her for the first time. He smiled at her sweetly . She looked like a mess but didn't every one ? Vanessa sighed and nodded.

"I guess it isn't to bad" she said looking at her hands. She didn't know what she was going to do without her best friends. She had never been without her. Not even when she went on a trip with her family. The guy rubbed her back soothingly . She sat there for what seemed like hours just staring at the wall as the man sat next to her talking. She wanted to listen , really she did but she just couldn't .
