Fenrir's nerves were worn ragged by the time Tyr came home.
"Let us sit down at the table fenrir. We need to talk."
Fenrir sat down at his seat and Tyr followed, sitting down on the chair opposite him
"Fenrir. Today I realized that us gods don't have any idea of what you are capable of. The other gods agreed to invent a sieries of challenges to test your strength so that we can know the best way to teach you." Fenrir blinked. This was not what he had expected at all.He had expected banishment, or public humiliation at the very least. But a test? Really?
"What do you say? Will you take the tests?" Tyr said, misreading fenrir's puzzled expression.
"What? Oh yeah, Shure. I'll take the tests. But.. won't you punish me? I got in a fight."
"Conrad is not the best of people. Unfortunately, all violence must have a consequence. Up to your room for the rest of the evening. I will send your food up with one of the maids. Your first test starts in the morning.NEXT MORNING
The next morning fenrir met the gods in a clearing in the forest. Odin stepped forward "Fenrir, the best blacksmiths on Asgard have made these chains. We think that you could not possibly break them. Will you consent to try?"
The chains were thick and strong-looking, but fenrir was not worried. He knew he could break even the strongest of fetters.
Thor, being the strongest of the gods, bound fenrir as tight as he could.
Fenrir winced. He knew he would have the indentations of chains in his flesh for hours to come. Still, he strained against the bonds, and, to the Gods horror, broke them without much of a struggle. All the gods pretended to be joyous at his escape, cheering and clapping gladly.
But, whether it was something in their eyes or the too inthusiastic way they cheered, fenrir started to suspect foul play. He squashed the fear, saying to himself tyr loves me like a son. He would never betray me. Would he?
The next day Odin produced stronger chains. Fenrir put his sharp teeth to a link and was soon free. Once more the gods acted celebratory, but fenrir's heart screamed for him to listen. Fenrir ignored it.
The day after that Odin produced a set of even stronger chains. Fenrir soon broke these too. It went the same way with the next days chains.
Thor was tired of losing to that Loki's son. So he went down to svärtelfheim, the realm of the dwarves fo he knew fullwell that they were the most skilled craftman in all of the nine worlds.
Thor explained his predicament to the dwarves, who said there was only one fetter that would bind such a formidable foe. The ingredients were all impossible things: the spit of a bird, the beard of a woman, the footsteps of a cat, the roots of a mountain, and the breath of a fish. Thor, being the embodiment of perfectness, rounded up the ingredients very quickly.
The dwarves made the rope and named it gleipnir. Really it was more of a thick string, Gleipnir was golden and shimmery.Thor smiled. Tomorrow he would take care of the wolf once in for all.
