-Runaway-
"Wakey- wakey! Come on now, I have a surprise for you," a voice said sarcastically.
Alexander tried to open his eyes but they felt so heavy, as if they were glued together. He tried desperately to gain back the alertness of his senses but his tries went in vain. For a moment he held his breath, trying to understand where he was at. The sound of water echoed in the open space. A light breeze stroke his naked body and chills run down his spine. Where they outdoors? He was defenseless.
He squinted his eyes and blinked several times in order to adjust his vision. There were only a couple of trembling flames in the distance. He was hanging upside down from a hook, tied up with chains. His heart was beating so fast that he could almost feel it popping out of his chest. Why did Anastasia do that to him? How could see betray him like that?
"There you are! Finally, it took you more than I've expected," a woman with long blonde curls approached him confidently. "What? Don't you recognize me?"
The woman kneeled down on the height of his face and kissed him passionately; Alexander turned his face away and looked at her out of the corner of his eye. His breathing was fast and irregular, probably a side effect of the poison that made him lose his senses.
"Sir is not amused?" the woman giggled. "What if I put something else on?"
She passed her hand over her face slowly. The moment she took it off Anastasia was once again looking Alexander straight in the eye. She laughed impishly while Alexander widened his eye and looked at her confused. It was clear to him that she was a shifter. What he did not know was if the woman he loved was that creature from the very beginning or if she was just acting.
"Better that way, right?" She sighed. "Allow me, you seem uncomfortable," the woman signaled and a huge man came towards them. He looked at her and with further ado he swung Alexander and turned him normally. He groaned with disgust and moved away, hiding in the dark.
"I am getting tired you know," She whispered. "Are you going to talk to me or are you going to wait stoically for your death?"
"What do you want from me?" Alexander said almost in a whisper.
"Me? What do I want?" the woman laughed loudly, her laughter crashed against the stone walls surrounding them.
Alexander looked at her cautiously as his eyes wandered carefully around the place. It seemed like they were inside an old church building. The roof was mostly demolished allowing the moon rays to get inside. The floor was wet and covered by dirt and leaves. This place of faith and hope was now a place that smelled like death.
"Answer me, Demonio!" The woman hissed in front of his face.
"What is that that you wish to hear milady?" Alexander said calmly.
The woman wrapped her hand around Alexander's neck violently and looked at him straight in the eye.
"Do you wish to end up like them?"
She turned him around, still not releasing him from her grip. Alexander's jaw tensed to the view of various people hanging on hooks as well. Others had their guts spilled down, others had their intestines wrapped around their neck. Some had a hole where their hearts should be and some were just bones scattered around with barely any flesh still attached on.
"You know I am going to kill you anyway," she giggled, a wicked smile stretched across her face. "But it doesn't have to hurt that much."
"Anastasia," he mumbled making the woman look at him amused.
