Chapter 7 - Cecilio Fabio Ali
"I would yell at you, but the thing is, you need to win this and we don't have much time. We have exactly one hour until you'll be needed to line up. Wait here." Ella disappeared as the words sunk in. Olivia waited about a minute until Ella reappeared with a man in a suit. He had a crisp white shirt, a satin bow tie and a cowboy hat that didn't belong. "This is -. Well I'll let him introduce himself."
"My name is Cecilio Fabio Ali and I can see things without actually being in a place. Ella tells me that you can earn an ability simply by seeing or experiencing a gift. Is this true?" Thinking about it, she nodded her head. "Then we must be quick. Hold my arm and we will look at what's happening in the stadium." He offered her his arm and she held on closing her eyes, waiting for the impact. But nothing happened. She opened her eyes to see she was hovering over the stadium. The men in black were putting away the technology and the audience looked bored. The podium hadn't been moved but a microphone had been set up on it. The men in black did a few sound checks and then continued putting away the equipment. After some time, Olivia remembered Cecilio. She glanced at him to see he was playing with the clouds above them.
"Can't they see that?" Surely strange moving clouds would attract some attention to such an uninspired audience?
"Maybe they would were we actually here. See, when we are still stood in the room with Ella really, but our minds are here - like in your visions. That's why it's important to put a false image on a barrier around you so that no one becomes suspicious but because Ella's in the room we don't need to. If you know what I'm talking about that is. Either way, are you ready to go back?"
"Yes." The view of the stadium faded and Olivia opened her eyes for a second time. She pinched her arm just to make sure she was in the room itself not looking at it. "Ow..." she muttered under her breath.
Cecilio laughed. "Go on. You try. Find out what Melissa's doing." Olivia thought about how it had felt to see and closed her eyes. She let herself slip like in her visions but concentrated on Melissa. Opening her eyes again, she stared down at Melissa. It had worked! Melissa was in a cold room taking out all her anger on a single punch bag. The wooden floorboards that should have creaked under her feet were silent. She kicked the punch bag so hard it exploded all over the floor. She sighed and wiped her head of sweat. Instead of cleaning it up, she decided to go into another corner of the room where she started running up and down the room, using her power to go so fast Olivia could just see a blur. She decided to go back into the room with Ella.
"What was she doing?" Cecilio smirked slightly, clearly expecting her not to have managed it. Well she was going to wipe that clean off his face soon...
"There is no need to use those violent powers right now. What was she doing?" Ella shot Cecilio a look but she didn't need to - he was gobsmacked.
"Do you have telepathy? That's a power that was extinct isn't it? Wow..." he seemed to glaze over as he retreated into his own thoughts. Olivia decided it would be a good idea to see if she could use Melissa's power of skill. She walked over to the corner of the room and stared right at Cecilio. He went white as a sheet as he realised what was going on again. Before he could move she sped forward in a blur and stopped inches away from him. He was breathing hard as he opened his eyes. He took a deep breath, rolled his shoulders and continued in a slightly shaken voice, "I will be going now. Good l-l-luck. Don't disrupt the Balance, win and I tip my hat to you," he took a step back and held the edge of his cowboy hat. He regained his jokey stance. "I really must be on my way now. Plenty of people to see, tons of things to do, you know the usual." He Travelled before either Ella or Olivia could respond.
"Courage - often confused with stupidity. It'd do you good to remember that one..."
