We rushed in as quickly as possible. It didn't take long to find them. They were in the music room. Omega was lying on the floor, blood pouring from a wound in his chest. Water ran forward, sliding down next to him. She ignored the blood that stained her dress, cupping her small hands around Omega's cheeks.
"Stay with me, Aether," she whispered. Water turned to the others. "How did this happen?"
Earth's lip was trembling. "It was an accident. I promise."
Water sighed. She turned to examine the wound. I turned away, nausea growing at the sight of so much blood. After a moment I looked again. Water sat back on her heels. Her hands were covered in blood, and she looked like she was going to cry.
"Well?" Alpha whispered. Water slowly shook her head. Alpha let out a sob, burying his face in Air's shoulder. Water sighed.
"All we can do now is pray that he will be okay. But he doesn't have much time."
"Fictam nos lutum ex luto moriemur. Sed hodie est ad hanc diem unum. Satanas carissime, peto a te ut, nisi nostri Omega. Reducendum est. Et potestatem tuam dabo tibi fortitudinem, invocato omnibus angustiis meis. Placere audi vocem meam et volo."
She stared for a moment. I heard Omega let out a small breath. What happened next was impossible.
His body turned pale, his skin forming cracks. His blue eyes dulled until he looked like he was made of clay. The cracks grew, spiderwebbing across his body. Then he crumbled to dust in front of everyone.
Alpha clapped a hand over his mouth. Earth was shaking.
"I didn't realize I threw so hard... it was just a drumstick."
Alpha glared at Earth, but Air held him back. Water's lip trembled but she shook her head.
"We can save him. But we don't have much time."
Air tilted his head. "Water, what are you thinking of doing?"
She stared into his eyes. He gasped.
"No. That would be suicide."
Water shrugged. "At least this way I will mean something."
I held up my hands. "What's going on?"
Water stood and turned to look at me. "Three. There's something I can do to save him. But it's very dangerous. And it could kill me. But I can never forgive myself if I don't try."
I felt a tear slide out of my eye. She was right.
I just hoped it would work and everyone would be okay.
