I woke to the screeching sound of my aunt's voice through my door making me tumble out bed in a disheveled mess. I let out an annoyed groan and climb off the cold hardwood. I glance at the clock realizing that,1,it was 8:15 at night and,2, I needed to go. Standing straight I stretch my tense muscles and make my way to the closet. I open the closet door stare inside, shrug, and grab a bunce of random sh*t. Shrugging the clothes on the reach for a hair tie braiding my thick red curls down my back. I skip down the stairs my back pack already secured on my back and walk into the kitchen. Aunt Carina is positioned at the counter sipping on a cup of black coffee. I grab the my house keys of the hook and hurry out of the house. I Faintly hear,"love you too I guess". I pop my head back through the door and smile at Aunt Carina. "Sorry...love you too", I say sincerely not even thinking about saying goodbye. "It's fine sweetheart, have a good day and be safe", she said sternly but playfully. I wave and dart out the door not planning to be totally safe. I needed answers and being 100% safe wasn't going to get me this answers. Hell I wasn't going to be safe at all. I needed to go into the bad side of town N.Y. and into a hidden restaurant. A restaurant that wasn't open till nine on the weekends. On normal days Freddy would open up at six when he came back from the pharmacy and the grocery store. And no don't say I'm stalking him cause I'm not. Okay maybe a little bit. But it's crucial to my investigation. His has horns, freaking horns. Who has horns? I mean seriou-,"move or I will move you myself", some old beer smelling man threatens. "Huh", I say not really understanding why. I look over and realise the door to the train is open. Not wasting another second I hurry in and and sit down on one of the cold plastic seats. Waiting for my stop I listen intently at as a drunk homeless man recites Amazing Grace. I realize what's happening and I start laughing hysterically earning me odd looks from some of the passengers. You're giving me weird looks an not this wacked hobo trying to sing. Wow. Just wow... Okay I guess I do look a little crazy. Oh well. I hear the door open and realise I'm at my stop. Climbing out I start walking but I shiver as the cold air hits my body but continue to walk to my destination. Twenty minutes later I arrive at the alley some how carved in my mind never forgotten. I check my watch and as seeing it says 9:03 I hurry down the shaded alley. Making a left turn, the door and the greenish sign come into view. Even though the night sky turned the alley almost black the sign was always still, amazingly, visible. I walk over and grip the frosty handle and pull the door open. Hot air and a warm illuminating light spill out. Chederwood tables and chairs spread across the large space a few oddly inhuman looking people are scattered around the room. Fred stands at the sturdy bar, his back turn to me drying the inside of a scotch glass with a rag. I slowly walk over and climb onto one of the high chairs positioned around the bar in front of Fred. Sensing a presence he glances back and his land on me. He turns back around lets out an annoyed sigh, then finally turns to me. "You don't sound so happy to see me Freddy boy", I shot playfully to the old man. He rolls his eyes and places his hands on the bar top. "What can I get ya", he questions in a monotone voice. "Coke, as always",I cerp happily. He grumbles but walks over to the taps and returns with my drink. Placing in on the counter he walks away before I can even ask questions. I watch as he walks over to the register by the door. He pulls out his phone and starts dialing. Placing the phone to he waits a couple of seconds till he speaks into the phone. His hushed voice carries to me. I listen intently but I'm unable to make out he whispers. He glances at me while he speaks, then nods and ends the call. "What was that about", I question carefully. He hair glances at me yet he doesn't try to answer me. "Why won't you tell me anything, you know sure as hell im not imaging this sh*t. You know I can see the horns, the glowing eyes, the gangs and canines. Hell I have even seen f**king pink and blue people. Just tell me what is going on", I rant, screaming at some parts. "I don't know what you're talking about", he states calmly while glancing over at the door as some people walk in. Not bothering to really look at them I only catch that there are two people. "Urrgghh", I let out in frustration. The corner of the old man's mouth turns up and seeing I wanted to punch him so badly I decide to leave and just come back tomorrow. I throw money on the bar top and storm harshly out of the restaurant. Walking out of the restaurant I start to half run half walk but I freeze in my place. The cold bitter air bites at my skin as I stare at four figures shadowed in the dark by the buildings in which created this alley. I stare open-mouthed at the different weapons straped and hung from there bodies in awe, also noticing dozens of types of pendants attached to the weapons. My mind races as questions shot through my head. Who are they? Why do they have weapons? Am I safe? Many more questions appeared but I quickly dismiss them deciding my starting question. "Who are you", I said trying to sound as calm as possible. "No darling, the question is, who are you", states someone with a rumbling British accent. "That is so not how it works, whomever asks the question first gets an answer first", I state confidently. "Not in my world, darling", he answers back. "Stop calling me darling", I shoot out. "Okay darling", he simply says. " Zander, stop playing around we have business to take care of", a female voices says sounding annoyed. "Oh right, I forgot", he says loudly as he smirks. Confused I feel a sharp, stinging jab on my neck. I suddenly drop to the ground hearing slight murmurs. The last thing I hear comes in a husky British accent,"Sleep tight, darling".
