We had no idea they were coming, nor what they were about to do. All we knew was that once they got here it was all over.
We were looking for a place to stay. After they arrived everything was different. They weren't human, no one knew exactly what they were. They were dangerous, they took out a whole city in a couple hours. Only a few survived the ones that they ¨needed¨. The others were killed. Some were lucky; the ones who weren't needed, but weren't captured and killed. I was one of them, the lucky ones. Our last home got invaded, some were killed and some survived. It was a gloomy day, just like always, we were looking for a home. More like a place to hide. We were all tired and hungry, some of us hadn't eaten in days. We were walking cautiously around when we saw them.
There they were looking around right in front of us, those creatures, looking for the people who had survived their previous attacks. We started to turn around slowly, careful not to cause attention to them. We saw an old building and went inside as fast and carefully as we could. It had an odd smell, the building, one that wasn't all too bad, but it wasn't good either. We walked down the long narrow path. There was something strange about the place, it was covered in a weird substance, it felt kind of slimy but it didn't stick to you. It was all over the walls and floors. We were all confused. What was this, it wasn't in any other buildings or houses? We kept going down the halls turning cautiously around every corner. We started to calm down thinking all was clear. Then, we saw it. It was a nest of them. They were sleeping. There were hundreds of them in the hall. We didn't know what to do. We couldn't turn around and go back. We would return to the other ones that were awake. We had to continue. Walking down the long narrow hall seemed to take an eternity. There was no way to get down to the end without waking up at least one of them. Was there? No, of course, there wasn't. She just had to step on the leg of it. Her name was Chloe. She always messed things up. We could never trust her. Sometimes I wondered if she was even trying, did she really want to be here living, or is she just trying to get us all killed? All I could hear was the terrible screech from it.
"Run!" Adam screamed. He was a guy we had found a while ago. We found him with his sister while we were looking for food. They were badly injured when we found them. Their parents were killed by the invaders. We took them in and healed their wounds. He wasn't much older than me, he's 17. We were all running as fast as we could trying to get away from them. I looked back to see how close they were. All I remember seeing was the terrified and painful look on one of our survivors as he was being held up by his chest and a mechanical hand tore through him. I looked forward, not being able to see what was about to happen, running at full speed for my life. When we reached the end of the halls and tunnels we saw a door and ran right outside, taking no time to look back or trying to see how many of us made it out and how many did not.
When we reached our campsite we saw that there was five missing. Luckily, not to say that the other people weren't important, the people I cared most about were all ok. I felt bad for the people who had lost their family members or friends. Everyone always tried to stay as close to their friends because no one wanted to lose the people who had helped them survive for so long. A while back, not too long ago, someone in our group had committed suicide when they found out their closest friend had died when we were attacked by a group of Them. We didn't want that to happen ever again so we tried to travel or go out as little as possible.
