chapter 2

I walked into my house and told my mom about my day. She already knew about the date tonight, but it was different seeing her shock and happiness that her eldest child was going to the movies with a popular boy, or at least by default popular because of his good looks

She wanted to help me pick out my outfit but I refused saying that I needed to do this by myself because it was my date, after all.

She agreed but said that of my outfit was, and I quote, "horrendous" she was going to force change me into something better.

I didn't know what she mean until I walked out in all black ensemble and she nodded no multiple times. She wanted me to wear color, something to bring my eyes out.

I, reluctantly, agreed but only if there was black somewhere in the outfit.

My mom threw some clothes at me and told me to change into that. The clothes were a pink long sleeve top, black floral skirt, black tights, and some black booties. There was enough color and blackness to make me and my mom happy so I stuck with that.

Damon texted me at 9 PM his address and I quickly punched in the address into my built in GPS. Thank heaven for the GPS.

I arrived 15 minutes later and called him. He answered on the second ring and told me to just go up, he got the penthouse in his apartment building.

I did as he told me to and pushed in the top floor labeled penthouse. The elevator doors opened to a sleek apartment. It was furnished loosely, but with modern touches.

I let myself in and the elevator doors closed with a whoosh and I was left standing in the apartment. I heard Damon before I saw him .

"Welcome to my abode. Played for my yours truly's parents."

"It's very modern."

"I didn't pick the decor."

"I can tell" I said with a light laugh.

"Shall we?" He asked walking towards a living room.

"We shall" I said walking after him.

The floor plan was wide and spacious with, you guessed it, sparse furniture. In their place e were blankets all over the floor to protect us against the cold flooring. Positioned in front of the blankets was a TV bigger than any I'd seen.

"So, what do you think? I set everything up myself."

"Its perfect." I meant it, this was the first date and I loved what we were doing.

"I've got burgers in the kitchen and some movies too watch. Want do you wanna do, play the movie or get the burgers?"

"I'll get the burgers."

"Alrighty!!" He said mimicking Ms Humboldt.

I laughed as I walked into the kitchen area. It was filled with sleek appliances and I wanted to stay just to play with them. Next to the blender was a bag of burgers labeled with the In-n-Out sign.

I walked back into the living room with the bag in my hands as Damon was selecting a movie from the Netflix menu.

He picked The Hangover. I think its a comedy, but I've never seen it. I hand him his burger and our hands touch for a slight second. Of that one second of touching a single spark of electricity runs through me. It tingles as it travels down my spine to my toes, making them curl.

His eyes pierce mine with a glance that has a deeper meaning that I cannot grasp. The glance towards me was quick and the glance away even quicker. I continue giving him his fries and milkshake. Our hands don't touch this time.

He focuses his attention completely on the screen. Not a single glance my way.

"Hey, you're acting kinda weird. Is everything alright?" I ask.

"Yeah, everything's cool. Sorry about acting weird"

"It's okay."

We sit in silence with little laughs here and there. It really is a funny movie. We end up shoulder to shoulder somehow but our fabric didn't allow skin contact.

The movie ends and the he turns on the lights to find his t.v. controller. He finds it but instead of turning back to the t.v. he does a full 180 and turns back to me. His gaze is smoldering but I'm enjoying the feel of his eyes raking over me.

He makes me feel beautiful even though we've barely met. It's crazy. I always imagined that I would take it really slow whenever it came to relationships. Then again, I always thought I would be in a relationship after high school ended.

He draws himself closer to me until we're only an inch after. I close that inch with a kiss.

Sparks. Sparks are everywhere.

I don't know what came over me but he doesn't seem to care. He pushes my body closer to his. I wrap my arms around his neck and grip his hair within my fingers.

His own hands tangle themselves into my hair. We let go of each other for breath. I want to confide in him that this was my first kiss. This is my first date. He's the first boy who's ever paid me any mind.

"Fun fact. I've never done this before," I tell him.

"Kiss a stranger the first day you've met them?"

"No, I mean yes. But also no. I've never kissed anyone and I've never been on a date before."

"Good thing you met me," he says this ominously. It scares me a little bit.

"Good thing."
