Chapter 16: Taraji

After lunch, Taraji was driving to her firm to look at the new cases that she got in her e-mails. Taraji walked into her office and got into her laptop and started to look at the new cases that was in her emails, she saw a case that involved her ex and the case was for drugs and guns. Taraji was hesitant to click on the profile to read the charges and his statement but the real reason she was hesitant because she began to have flashbacks from what happened and he did in their relationship. Taraji passed the case to her co-worker to do because she had personal ties with the person involved in the case

"Hey Jeremy can you do this case for me ?" said Taraji

"Sure, why what's up ?" said Jeremy who was Taraji's co-worker

"I can't do this case because I know the person and I have personal ties with this particular person and case as well" said Taraji

"Oh I see, considered it done" said Jeremy

"Thank you so much, I owe you" said Taraji after she gave Jeremy the file

" I got you so you don't owe anything. Hell as many times you've looked out for me here and outside the office, I had to pay you back" said Jeremy

"You know that I got you" said Taraji

"Always" said Jeremy

After she gave Jeremy the case to work, Taraji began working on another case until she got a text from Ericka saying that they should go out for a night out in the city and get some drinks and have a good time. After she finished signing the files that she was working on, Taraji texted Ericka back to let her go that the plan was a go and that she'll get up with her after work

"To:Ginon, Ericka

From: Smith, Taraji

Hey girl, I agree we should. Let me know what night is good for you and the girls and I'm down to turn up with y'all"

After she sent the text to Ericka, she called her brother Angelo, who was also in the law enforcement field to see if he had any leads that are tied to the case that she was working on before she proceeds to present this case in the courthouse in front of jury, the judge and the defendant.

"Hello Angelo ? It's me Taraji" said Taraji

"Oh hey what's up ?" said Angelo

"I'm calling you because I'm working on this case that possibly could be tied the case and the person you have in custody by any chance ?" said Taraji

"I can see for you, why what's up ?" said Angelo

"I'm asking because the defendant's name came up with your person of interest's association and he gave up a couple of names including locations of the trap houses that are connected in the drug stings as trade of the sentence that was given which was 25 to life without the possibility of parole including charges of capital murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, intent to sale and drug paraphernalia" said Taraji

"Damn I'm well into it right now. I got a match for you. The defendant is in a connection with my person of interest that I have in custody. In fact, the crew that are associated with are in a turf war with other drug cartels that come onto their block and they'll get anyone from anywhere to take them out and after they done the job for them, they initiate them into their crew" said Angelo

"Really, this is some crazy stuff and we have to put in jail because if we don't, there are going to be more homicides which means no witnesses which leads to case being closed with no leads and I know you don't want that neither do I" said Taraji 

"I got something, your defendant that is ACTUALLY connected to the person of interest because he's in a turf war with a rival gang that is connected to the drug raid that took place two years ago." said Angelo
