(pic already tells you who .)

I watch max from my spot under a big oak tree. He runs around the play ground, like a normal kid. Not a care in the world. I smile at the thought of us in a normal family.

"Hey, Char." I look up to see Kaleb.

"Hey." He smiles and sits down next to me lightly taping his thigh next to mine.

"What are you doing here?" He asks, trying to make small talk.

"Just watching my cousin play on the playground." I point over to max, who waves.

"What happened to his lip?" Luckily this was just a school bully, and not his own father. I could actually tell the truth about some sort of pain.

"School bully." I pull at some grass, twirling it around my fingers, then watching it fall from my hands as I let go.

"That sucks. Did the kid get in trouble?" I shake my head.

"No. He's too scared to tell someone, school related. He says it'll just make it worse."

"I used to be like that. Until my friend told."

"You were bullied?" I ask in disbelief.

He nods. "All the way till high school."

"I would have never imagined someone like you to get bullied."

"Fuck off." He says in a joking manner. " Um no. I got make fun of for the way I acted. They used to sing this gay song while running around me throwing whatever they were able to fetch.

"Are... You gay?" I ask slowly, unsure if I should.

He laughes "No. Not gay. But im not homophobic."

"Same. My old best friend was gay. I found out that she had a huge crush on me. It broke my heart. I tried to tell her, in the nicest way possible that I didn't feel the same way. She was so upset." Tears start to fill my eyes, blurring my vision. My throat tightens  up and I am unable to continue.

"It's. Okay. You don't need to continue the story." Kaleb trys to comfort me, it helps a little knowing that someone cares the slightest. Once I shed even the smallest tear, I cry an ocean. Crying for every reason I have. Letting everything that I once held and was being tortured with out, out for the world to question and judge.

A little while later max walks up to me.

"Um. D..do you have...have an...any money...to...to g...eet...icee....cream?" Max  stutters hard and nervously. I feel bad, because I used the last of my money on the pizza.

"I'm sorry max..." I am interrupted by Kaleb.

"Yea, buddy. We've got money. Let's go." He stands up, while I sit there dumbfounded.

"Let's go."He holds out a hand and I greatly take it. I grab my bag and we start walking.

"What kind of ice cream do you want?" Kaleb asks max.

"Ummmm. I don't really know." He looks at the menu board.

"That's okay. Take your time." Kaleb looks over at me, grinning like his life depended on it. I was still dumbfounded of what was happening.

"What are you getting?" He asks.

"I want. Mint chocolate chip."

"As a milkshake or cone?"

"Um. Milkshake." He nods.

"Have you ever been to an ice cream shop?" I nod, but of course I'm lying.
