Daniel's POV
It was the first day of school and I was--as is natural--nervous. And exhausted. I'd stayed out way too late.
Just my luck, the first thing I see when I walk up to school is the guy that punched me and his friends. After contemplating what the best course of action was, I simply decided to walk really quickly past them and hope they didn't see me.
Thankfully my plan worked, and I didn't see any of them until the end of the day, when I proceeded to run into Johnny and his other blonde friend because I was reading a handout I'd been given and not paying attention to anything, apparently.
The other guy practically bellowed at me to watch it, while Johnny just stood there and silently stared at me while I slowly backed away and then turned around, rushing to the bike rack.
It wasn't until I got home later that I realized I didn't even think to check to see whether I'd dropped any papers earlier.
I frantically searched through everything trying to find the missing homework, but to no avail.
I heard the dreaded call of lights out from my mom, causing me to admit defeat and begin to mentally prepare myself for tomorrow.
*the next day*
When I got to school--thankfully--there was no sign of Johnny or any of his friends.
However, when I got to my locker, there were a couple sheets of paper taped to my locker as well as a note.
Oh thank god, I thought, my missing homework.
I opened the note, and felt a new rush of emotion that I couldn't explain. The note read:
Starting the year off right, I see. I found
this yesterday after you left in such a rush.
Hope you get it in on time. Anyways, see ya around
Karate Kid.
-Johnny Lawrence
Daniel smiled, and turned around just to see Johnny rush by him.
