It hit Liz like a bullet. She actually fell over when Lucille fired the spell. the effect was immediate, all gossipy words were erased such as Omg, ugly, stupid and two- faced. this was done to make it harder for Liz to gossip and hurt others with her words. She would get gossiping and try to call someone butt-ugly but wouldn't be able to say it no matter how hard she tried.

Ninth grade drew closer as more and more words disappeared. On the actual first day she had such a limited vocabulary she gave up, embarrassed as all get out, trying to be popular.

Lucille wasn't convinced though. She knew as soon as Liz got her words back she would be back to her old ways. The words had to leave completely and return only when Lucille saw a change of heart. Soon, she was a total mute and instead of gossiping and shopping afterschool, she began to do her homework and learn her studies. She finally saw what was so compelling about books and devoured them. And you know what? Her grades went straight up
