Author note: Ok guys, this is my first story. I wrote it a long time ago and I'm in the process of editing it. If you have any suggestions, tell me. It would be very helpful to get some feedback. Here are all 18 (and pretty short) chapters of my first attempt to touch the glory of writing.

Living Nightmare

Chapter I

I wanted to sleep, but if I sleep I die. The moon was full, so sleep meant death. The opera house was open tonight. The fears and nightmares of countless people crawled into our dark town. There were creatures beyond anyone's imagination. Nobody could look at these creatures and not be scared for life. Nightmares were killing everyone. The sun was our savior. The break of dawn is the one thing that spares us from life and death. I ran past the opera house in fear of being seen. The katana I had didn't make me feel any safer. I looked back to see if anything was chasing me, and because I saw a werewolf was about to pounce on me. I swung around, lashing out my katana. The blade sliced through the malevolent creature like it was air. There was a sudden burst of darkness, and a glowing sphere of pure black appeared in it's place. I took it and put it in a bag with all the other ones I collected. The black orbs were the collected nightmares containing werewolves. There were at least 100 nightmares from that one. I ran back towards the school, and climbed over the stone wall guarding campus. Tonight was an emergency night because the opera house had opened, so everyone found refuge in the school. It was the only nightmare proof building in the town. I silently slid into the bunkered where everyone slept. My nightmares were safe, and I decided to hide my katana inside the pocket of my mattress (which I secretly cut out during lunch break). I never slept, even in the bunkered. Nightmares gave me what sleep would. I didn't have to sleep, it was obsolete. The sun was rising, and the first bell rang. I rose with the bell, and put on my uniform. Grimm junior high, where I went to school, had a strange uniform. I wore a black tux with the school crest on the front pocket, but with a regular tie instead of a bow tie. The girls wore a black jacket, tie, red skirt and black stockings. Grimm JH had the coolest uniforms ever because you could customize the back of your jacket. I was part of a group called the "Nightmare Slayers", so the back of mine had the Nightmare Slayer logo on the back. We snuck out at night to kill nightmares, so we can sell the remains for tons of cash. Nightmares were like the drugs of our town. People got addicted to them, and were in a world of fear. The money made from selling nightmares was huge. The Nightmare Slayers, or NS as the students call it, was a shady bunch. The only person I trusted was Vivi, my best friend. She used a kusarigama, a scythe with a chain connected to the handle with a weight on the other end, to slay nightmares. I used a katana (sometimes two), scythe, or dual pistols.

My pistols were locked and loaded. I was ready for tonight's nightmare hunt. The opera house was open because it was the second night of a full moon. I was ready to go hunting, when a girl burst onto the campus. She had black hair that was tied back into a pony tail, cuts all over her arms and legs, and had a ripped GJH uniform on. I was eating lunch at the time, and seeing a girl burst onto campus was a rare sight so I was frightened. She clutched ten tiny metal objects in her hands. They looked like they could be worn on your fingers. She spotted me and ran towards me.

"Help me! I'm lost, and don't know where I am!" she begged me. I looked at her strangely. She was clearly serious, but the uniform meant she had went to school here.

"What's your name?" I asked her. She looked at me. The girl started concentrating really hard. I could see the effort on her face. She let out a sigh.

"I don't know. All I remember is something about an opera house. I don't know where I'm from, but I know I escaped this one strange building full of demons and such last night. The strangest part was it was gone when I checked this morning" She explained. I instantly knew what she had done. She committed the one sin of nightmare hunting no mater what group your in. She had entered the opera house. Even the Messengers of Steel never went near the opera house. It was where your worst fears and greatest nightmares gathered. It only appears on nights with a full or new moon. Even on nights it isn't present, this place is crawling with nightmares and fears of everyone everywhere. The only reason the opera house was so bad was it held nightmares and fears, plus it strengthened the nightmares and fears inside it. This girl had committed the cardinal sin. She had obviously paid dearly for it. She would never be the same again, and even though I didn't know it at the time, I wouldn't either.
