Before Shine and Dusk met in the forest:
" Fellow Arcanines, we have finally took over the kingdom. So, let's CELEBRATE!!! " Flamethrower declared.
"N-no... we're not... done yet." Queen Pearl, weakened from the tower that fell on top of her, stood up.
"Wow, sir. She's one tough cookie." One of the guards whispered.
Flamethrower came closer to Queen Pearl. He raised his paws, claws ready, and...
Before he could strike, an attack hit his paw. "Protect the Queen!!!" One of the citizens said.
"Grr... Arcanines, battle stations!" Flamethrower growled.
"Heeheehee..." A laugh was heard.
All the citizens started shivering. They all ran back to their houses and locked the doors.
Flamethrower was confused, but interested at the same time.
It was Shine, she stole some sitrus berries. "These Pokemon are such scaredy-skitties!" She giggled.
She spotted the queen who was weakened, and the Arcanines, who were staring at her.
"What? Never seen a girl steal?" She winked then left.
"Wait!" Flamethrower growled.
"What is it, Hotshot?" She asked. "I'm busy."
"I want you to do something for me." Flamethrower said.
" Oh, and why should I do that? Admit it, I'm amazing. " She said, holding her knife at the back of her paw.
'This guy might have some loot on him. Maybe even a sword!'
" Because you're amazing,okay?
You see... I need you to assassinate the prince. I saw him run like a baby. " Flamethrower and the other Arcanines chuckled.
" Leave my son out of this! " Queen Pearl said weakly.
" Shut it! " Flamethrower growled.
"And what's in it for me?" Shine asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Home. Food. Anything you desire." Flamethrower grinned.
This is the perfect time for Shine to strike. She raised her knife in the air and before she could even strike, Flamethrower stopped her with his mean look.
Shine was petrified. She couldn't even move an inch.
"You're one powerful little eevee, aren't you? " Flamethrower taunted
"Ergh, ugh." Shine struggled but failed. Flamethrower noticed this and end his mean look attack.
"O-Okay...you win... I'll kill Prince Dusk." Shine said.
"That's a smart girl. And I will be sending two of my best recruits. They'll check on you. And if you screw up..." Flamethrower glared.
"...they will end your tracks."
Shine gulped. Suddenly, she felt a pair of hands touching her head. She shivered.
"Hello there little girl. I'm Night." Shine turned around to see a gengar.
"And I'm Blaze." A houndoom introduced.
"We are the Darkness duo!" Both of them said in unison.
" What are you? The Pokemon version of Team Rocket or something? " Shine rolled her eyes.
"Haha. No. Both of us will be the ones to keep a sharp eye on you. And never troll the Darkness Duo. " Night said, chuckling.
"Oh great." Shine said, face palming, or should I say face pawing, herself.
"I will be watched over by idiots. " She mumbled.
The darkness duo and the Arcanine disappeared, leaving only the weaken Queen Pearl.
She struggled to get up. Shine walked closer to her.
"Sh-Shine...you wouldn't hurt Dusk, would you?" She said weakly.
"I have a job. I have to do it. To survive." Shine said.
"Sh-Shine...you...need to....f-fight...with...th-the side..." Pearl said, she's even more weaker.
Shine's eyes widened in shock. "Wh-what side?"
"Th-the side....who t-tells you to....k-kill....don't.... please... d-do it....f-for me." Pearl said.
Shine fed one of the sitrus berries she stole to the weakened queen. "There... is it all better?"
"Th-thanks....I knew.... y-you have a heart....just don't.... d-don't....let that side take over." Pearl said.
"I'll try. Its a promise. And I try my best not to hurt Dusk, but take care of him..." Shine said. She suddenly felt her heart beating.
"S-see? That's your...h-heart....beating..." Pearl said, giving a weak smile.
"And thanks...please send D-Dusk my h-hellos and a g-goodbye." She smiled weakly again.
"O-okay..." Shine ran.
"Please...d-do it...f-for me."
Present:
Shine woke up from her sleep. She remembered those words...those words.
"Pearl,I broke your promise...I-I'm so sorry..." She cried softly.
Shine looked at the clock.
'Hmm...its midnight...better go back to sleep. Tomorrow's training!' She thought then she drifted off to sleep.
