I don't understand any of this.

Whoever made these assignments can kindly stick their head in a propeller.

I'm not the smartest person out there, so these complicated geometry questions are making me hate myself for being so stupid. Sometimes I can't help but wonder that if maybe I practiced my math skills in elementary school, I wouldn't suck so bad at it now, years later in high school.

Sighing in defeat, I put my pencil and papers away. I guess I'll turn it in the way it is. Excited about my spare time, I reach for my phone on the other side of the bed, but before I can grab it my mom's voice makes its way through the room.

"Jasmine, it's time for dinner!!"

I let out a groan of frustration but reluctantly make my way to the dining room and take a seat. My Dad and brother, Leo, are already sitting at the table talking amongst themselves, so I sit there quietly until the food is served.
My Dad is the first one to notice my presence and smiles.

"Hi mija, how was the game?" He asks.

Hot, tiring, dumb... the list goes on and on, but I decide to not rant about it. "It was bearable, I guess. As soon as it started, I was ready to come home." I respond. He nods and sends me a sympathetic smile, and Leo starts talking again. I lose interest in what he's talking about once my mom places the food on the table. I immediately start to serve myself and begin to dig in.

If there's anything you should know about me, it's that I don't play when it comes to food.

Dinner went by quick. There was conversations about school, work, and weekly schedules. Growing sleepy as the night goes on, I bid my family goodnight and head down the hallway to my room. I change into some leggings and a long sleeve shirt before going to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash off the make up from the game.
After finishing my night routine, I head back to my room and close the door behind me. Since I washed my face with cold water, I now felt wide awake. This always happens.
It's kind of a win lose situation because now I have phone time, but I'll be on it for a while so I'll lose sleep.
Oh well.
After I grab my phone and plug it into the charger by my bed, I look at the screen.

John: I'm assuming you're still at the game. Text me when you're out. I'm really bored.
John: Hellooooo?
John: Jasmineeee.
John: I'm kinda tired now. Sorry I couldn't stay up longer.
John: Goodnight best friend.

Guilt washed over me when I saw the messages from John. I am such a bad best friend.
I'll text him in the morning.

There was another text, but it wasn't from John. By the time I could check, sleepiness had taken its toll on my body and I was asleep.

6:45 am

"QUACK QUACK QUACK QUA-"
"Shut up you're so annoying! " I groan as I turn off my phone alarm. I'm an idiot for setting my alarm tone as ducks. Ducks are cool, but I'd rather not wake up to them.

I sit up in bed and tiredly blink as I blankly stare at the wall.

Something isn't right. It doesn't feel like I should be awake right now.

I face palm as I realize what day it is.

"It's Saturday, you idiot." I mumble to myself. I laid back down and closed my eyes with hopes that sleep would come back to me.

One can dream.

"Okay seriously? This is so messed up. The sun isn't even up yet." I retort to myself as I sit up once again, now wide awake.

What am I supposed to do at 6 in the morning?

I could go running.

Haha, real funny, Jasmine. Comedian material right there. Someone get this girl a mic.

I mean yeah, I've never ran for fun before, but there's not much of a selection right now.

Then an idea popped into my mind and I suddenly felt happy about being awake so early in the morning.

I slipped on some fuzzy socks then walked over to the bathroom mirror.

Yikes.

My curls were either frizzed or matted down from laying on them. They can't be salvaged unless I wash them, so my best option is to put my hair in a messy bun. After redoing my messy bun about 5 times, I brush my teeth and wash my face with cold water.

Now I can get this morning started.

I grab my phone and my earphones and head across the hallway to the kitchen. My house is fairly small. There's only one hallway in the entire house, so that alone says everything. My room is across the hallway from the kitchen, which is honestly amazing because if I get hungry at night, I don't have to travel very far.

Turning on the light, I let out a sigh of relief when I see an empty stove and a sink without dishes.

You know, this would be a lot more fun with music.

I unlock my phone and go to Spotify. After taking ages to finally pick a playlist, I plug in my earphones and select "Get Happy".

Let the cooking begin.
