Chapter Eight

Ally's POV

Zara and I came out last from the bus and everyone was already eating. Zara makes eye contact with Zayn and gives him a smile which he returns widely and motions for her to sit in between him and Louis. She pats my arm before strolling over to sit. I see Liam and decide to sit near him. 

"Oh hi, Ally." He smiles and I raise my eyebrow at his sudden surprise.

"Surprised, why?" I word weird but he just laughs and replies, "I thought you would sit next to Harry."

"Nah, I need to get to know everyone now that we will be stuck together for a while." I shrug and chuckle as he nods.

I push away the celery from my plate and Liam looks at me weird, "You don't like celery?"

I shake my head and sigh, "I'm allergic, I know it's so weird, but I am."

Liam looks at me carefully for a few minutes before shaking his head and muttering, "It can't be her. She died a long time ago." 

"Who died, Liam?" I whisper so no one would hear and he gets startled that I heard so I point to myself and say, "Spy."

"Can.. can I tell you a secret? Promise not to tell anyone?" He asks softly and I nod for him to continue but first I held out my pinky.

He raised his eyebrow at my pinky and I say, "I was taught that pinky promises are the most effective."

He nods and then loops his pinky with mine and continues on, "I had this sister. She was about three or four when we were playing around and someone kidnapped her. I tried to save her but he threw me down on the ground and I lost consciousness. I couldn't save her."

My eyes widen at the story and I whisper, "Where were you when this happened?" 

"At a park with this big lake where she loved to sit by the water and sing."

I close my eyes and remember  the memory which I thought only haunted me til this day, but now also haunts Liam. 

"What did the guy look like?" My voice falters and he carefully says, "He has big and tall and had a buzz cut. Olive skin and green eyes. And a scar on his left eyebrow."

My breathing quickens as the memory plays back in my head over and over. All I see is the memory repeating in my head. Like a movie on replay. The little boy now much clearer in my head. The family now much clearer. The guy's face uncovered. 

I remember my name. Allisonella Payne.

Zara's POV

I hear Liam calling Ally's name loudly and I whip around to see her unconscious on the ground. I dash to her lifeless body and pat her cheek. I check for her pulse. It's there. 

"Somebody get some water!" I yell and Niall brings me his water bottle which I splash onto her face.

"Huh?" A faint sound escapes her lips as her eyes flutter open.

Her brown eyes search the crowd and fell on Liam which cause a sob to come out of her lips. I quickly hug her close to me and ask for everyone but Zayn and Liam to board the bus. Ally holds me tight and sobs into my shirt as I stroke her hair.

"What happened, Liam?" Zayn asks as he brings out a towel from the bus for Ally.

"I-I... I told her a secret." Liam says hesitantly.

"What's that? We won't tell anyone, Liam." I urge him and he looks at Zayn and I for few seconds before nodding and telling us the secret. 

After he finishes, I gasp as I remember the story Ally would keep muttering.

"Ally... Liam... You guys are siblings." I whisper but they all heard.

"WHAT?" Liam screams and Zayn just stands there wide eyed.

Ally wipes her tears and nods.

Liam now takes Ally out of my arms and holds her at arms length. He looks over her and sighs, "My Elly!"

She clings tight to him and he mumbles little 'I miss you's' and 'i loveyou's'. Zayn and I smile at the two of them. Zayn pulls me into his side and wraps an arm around my shoulder as I hug him tight to me, glad to have my best friend back in my life.

"What is going on here?" We turn and spring apart from each other at the voice.

"It's not what it looks like!" Ally shouts but the person had already started to run. We all look at each other before following.
