This was meant to empower those who are not able to see themselves clearly.
In this stage of your life, you probably are not able to accept yourself nor love yourself,
I wanted to showcase the struggles a black woman in America faces, others face similar struggles but that was not the focus of this 'story'.
The melanin in your skin does not rate your worth nor your beauty. Black women are suppressed to this day. Sexualised, misused, shamed for their gifted skin and features.
Black women are sadly not a part of literature as well. We are not all caucasian, blue eyed and pale. We come in so many differences but those differences are tossed by side to appeal to those consumed by a prototype of women. That way it poisons us all. Men suffer the same but in other dimensions, yet I am not a man, I do not face their struggles only MINE. We women can NOT speak out for every struggle both sexes face while men being quite about them. Take responsibility.
Representation is so important. Black is a part of America since they were shipped over by the English and Spanish men mostly.
You can't expect women who grow up in a society that is against black women to embrace herself and love herself.
Thank you.
