Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world, there are only individuals.

Annabel stood in front of the mirror, straightening her black curly hair, which was damaged by the heat.

How she hated that hair.
She wished it was blond and long.
But it wasn't and coloring would just look tacky on her.

Disgusted she looked at her dark brown skin in the mirror.
How must beautiful light, alabaster colored skin feel like?
Another feature she did not own.
She tried bleaching her skin once which had ended in red, swollen skin and pain.
She never tried it again.
But her envy eyes followed everyone who owned her desire.

Her face was covered in a too light foundation, her full lips were also covered in the same colored concealer to make them seem less full, only lipstick in the middle.
Her deep brown eyes were covered as well, by light blue lenses.
A pink turtleneck didn't show an inch of skin, while baby pink pants covered her legs.

With a last disgusted look at herself in the mirror, she grabbed her backpack and left her room.

Annabel wasn't respected by society and so she didn't respect herself.
