She was here. She saw what he had done. . . his whole act.
Her dark eyes grew wide when he caught her, and little by little they welled with tears.
"What are you doing here?" Jude said, trying not to show any concern or fear. But there was no possible way he could do that. She wasn't in the wonderful trance of the tune. She could see the carnival for what it was.
"T-to try the worlds finest pork." She said weakly.
Jude's lower lip started to tremble. "Poppet. . . you need to go home."
He propped her back up on her feet making sure she was steady.
His father could find her. He would insist she had seen to much. . . kill her. Jude couldn't live with that. Hearing the squeals of the pigs was on thing, but the screams of his dearest Poppet was a whole other. He wouldn't accept it.
The whole thought was a tragedy itself. Causing what seemed like a deep ache in Jude's chest. No Poppet, no laughter, just him the carnival, and the worlds finest pork."Go home!" He took a firm step towards her.
But neither Poppet or her wide eyes budged away from him. Just simply stayed in place.
"Open your eyes." She said her voice losing volume by each word. "See what you are doing."
Jude shook his head rapidly. "I'm busy, Poppet! Go home!"
"Look at what your doing." She repeated. "Look at the small innocents, look at the groups and families, open your eyes."
He felt like screaming. Down in his chest he knew it. He always had. Maybe it was the time and the brainwashing that overpowered the 'common sense' in his head, or maybe it was the refusal to believe what he was doing.
Murder....Full murder.
"GO HOME!" He screamed, his lips pulling back and baring his teeth. "GO HOME BEFORE I CUT YOU FROM THE STOMACH UP YOU ****ING PIG!"
There was a moment of shock between both of them.
Poppers tears, at last, spilled over as she replied softly. "Open your eyes, or stop playing with your meal."
After that she simply turned on the back of her heal and walked out of the gloomy, and slaughter show tent.
