Prologue Part Two
"Go away, pup. This is for the big kids," said Marquis, one of the few original vampires left in Seattle.
"No, you're bad news. Iexela sent me straight here; she said a small army is forming... there are others, too!" the pup exclaimed, clearly scared for his life.
Marquis in fact was building a small army against Alexei's wishes. Like most original vampires, Marquis didn't care about Zeus's wishes; he only lived for what he was mass for -- to destroy the werewolf race.
"Yea, pup, why don't you run back to mommy? Well, you could stick around and play with us for a little while... Iexela won't miss another runt of the litter," said Marquis's unbound cadet Jordan. Unbound means he isn't affected by Artemis and Ares's spell. He changes worthy mortals for Marquis.
Closing in on the pup, the two vampires caught a fragrance in the air.
"You smell that, Jordan?" Marquis asked, amusement in his voice.
"But of course... is it a Purity?" Purities were people with pure O-positive bloods, the rarest and most delicious of types to vampires.
"You've gotten lucky, pup," Marquis said, kicking the pup in the shin, shattering his bone. "Jordan and I have a blind date," he said, a grin spreading across his face.
And with that, the two left the pup to find the Purity.
