Hallow Eve~{Rise of the Guardians Fanfic}

Chapter 6: Rescue Mission

Third Person P.O.V.
~the next morning~

The 5 Guardians made their way down the Hallow Caverns. They found the happy Eve already up and awake, cleaning up.
"Oh, good morning!" Eve greeted as the groggy Guardians waved back.
"Whatcha' doing there?" Bunnymund asked as he stretched.
"Just getting these last few candies delivered before the big night."
"Oh, need any help?" Tooth asked as she flew over to her. Eve shook her head nicely as North stepped up.
"Eve, we thank you for letting us spend the night here." He said.
"It's no problem! It's my way of thanking you all for filling in for my--" Eve clenched her fists in realization.
"M-My helpers! They're still held captive by Pitch! W-We have to get them back!" Eve summoned her broom but as she attempted to ride it, a cold hand grabbed her arm.
"No, Eve, ride with us in the sleigh. Pitch's palace is way too dangerous for you to be alone in. He might get to you first, so it's best if you come with us." Jack explained as the Guardians nodded. Eve agreed and she walked with them to North's sleigh, with her ghosts right behind her. When they arrived, Jack helped her up the sleigh and they made their way to Pitch.
"Nightmare Palace." North mumbled to his snow globe as black figures appeared inside. He threw it in front of the moving sleigh and they entered the portal.

As Eve opened her eyes, she found herself and the Guardians in a new environment. Black sand stood tall as castles, as the sky was a dirty yellow.
"We're here." Tooth breathed.
The reindeer pulled the sleigh into the biggest castle. As the sleigh landed onto the ground inside, the Guardians hopped out and stood in their fighting stances.
"Keep your eyes and ears open, mates. He could be anywhere." Bunny warned as he pulled out his boomerangs. But only silence filled their ears.

The Guardians were getting impatient, so their curiosity led them to explore carefully.
"You think he's even here?" Jack questioned as Sandy shrugged. Then, a familiar scream echoed throughout the castle as Eve gasped.
"Esmeralda, my witch!" Eve ran towards the open room as the Guardians ran after her.
"Eve, no! It could be a trick!" Jack warned as they made their way to a dark room. Eve panted as she yelled out her witch's name once more.
"Esmeralda! Esmeralda, where are you?"
"Over here! Eve!" The voice called out. Eve ran into the darkness as a loud bang shout through their ears. The Guardians found themselves now in a brighter room, and Eve in a black sand cage. Esmeralda's "voice" laughed as a tall, black figure came through the remaining darkness.
"Oh, Eve! My poor, poor--"
"Eve.." The witch's voice was replaced by the deep Pitch's. He laughed maniacally as an evil smirk was plastered onto his face.
"That little trick always seems to work, doesn't it? Your "care and love" for all those monsters." Pitch spat as Eve's anger rose up.
"They're not monsters!! You are!"
"Awww, is the little witch angry? Well I'm sorry, but if you wanted to see your helpers so bad, you could've just said so." Pitch removed the remaining darkness in the room to unveil green, white, and orange orbs. The orbs glowed and dimmed at different times, and some twitched vigorously. Eve collapsed on the ground as she covered in mouth in fear.
"Are those her--" Tooth gasped. The Guardians winced back in terror as they saw the orbs twitch and glow violently.
"Yes, her helpers. What a great family reunion, don't you say?" Pitch chuckled.
"What did you do to them?" Eve's shaky voice whimpered. Pitch walked closer to the cage as he chuckled.
"You're about to find out now." The Guardians lunged at Pitch with their weapons, as he dodged and raised his arm at the cage, which began to disintegrate and surround Eve. Nightmare horses galloped into the room and the Guardians fought them off.
"Sandy! Break her out!" Jack yelled as Sandy shot a wave of gold sand at the cage. The black bars disappeared slowly into a patch of gold, but it wasn't enough to break her out and it turned back into a full black cage. He stood shocked as he tried again. Using his whip, Sandy aimed again for Eve but a hand stopped it in his tracks.
"Don't think so, Sandman." Pitch threw the whip back as Jack ran past him to the cage.
"Eve!" The white-haired yelled as he froze the surrounding nightmare dust, setting Eve free. She ducked under the frozen cage and ran towards him.
"Thanks! Now let's help the others!" They both ran where the remaining horses were and fought them off. There were only a few left before North sensed an arrow being pulled back.
"Everybody, watch out! Pitch's arrow!" The Guardians looked back to face Pitch, but the arrow was already released.
"Tooth!" Bunnymund yelled as he ran to her.
As it flew towards her, a beam of light hit the arrow precisely, sending it to the wall.

Pitch groaned as he ran towards the door.
"After him!" North ordered. As they all chased him, a pool of darkness was summoned, and he vanished before their eyes. Eve and the others looked at the spot where Pitch disappeared as Eve finally realized something.
"My helpers! We have to get break them free!" The Guardians ran back and found Sandy already at the room. He stared directly into one of the black orbs and touched it with his finger. The gold sand replaced the blackness of the orb as it rose into the air. It morphed into a body and soon the gold shone away to reveal a witch.
"Esmeralda!"
"My Eve! Oh thank goodness, he didn't get you!" The witch said relieved as she caressed Eve's face.
The Sandman smiled as he sent a wave of sand to reach the other orbs. They all shined a beautiful gold, shortly before being replaced by the forms of the Halloween characters.
"My frankenstein! My mummies and ghosts! You're all here!" Eve exclaimed as a giant group hug filled the room.

Sandy stepped back to where the Guardians were and dusted his hands. They all smiled at him, before turning back to see the loving reunion.
"They're safe now." Tooth breathed a sigh of relief.
"Guess we can say, mission complete?" Jack asked playfully as they all chuckled.
