Reuniting with your best friend is probably the most joyous thing you could experience. Summer had kept me waiting, waiting for that one day I would see her again. To most teens, summer was a time to kick back at the beach or to have a nice, little barbeque in your back-yard. To me, it was the one thing stopping me from seeing my friends. I had been in the Bahamas the whole summer, helping my mom with one of her researches on reptiles. Where I was, there was no internet, no cellular connection, nothing to allow me to communicate with my friends. I could not wait to get back to Minnesota. Most people would have died for a vacation like this, but honestly I hated the heat. The cold was where I belonged.

We landed at 2 o'clock in the morning. Everyone and everything was sound asleep. You could hear the stirring of the wind outside the plane window. It was the physical landing that woke everyone with a sudden shudder. Half awake and quite asleep, at the same time, I had caused quite a commotion. I rummaged through my satchel to find my phone. I took it out to call someone, I didn't know who at the time. Just someone. I needed to hear a friend's voice. I dialed for Ashley and at the same time, I heard countless other people dialing for their own family. It rang eight times, I had counted, and then it went straight to voicemail. Her loud voice came on, full of bliss and happiness. I sighed, setting the phone down back into the satchel. Pleased with that, I started off and into the crowd of rushing people.

Our luggages were one of the first ones to arrive. We grabbed the three luggages and headed to Baggage Check Department. Once we went through all the security processes, a man had escorted us outside. A taxi pulled over and opened its doors. I sat in the back seat with the luggages aside me. My mother sat at front, requesting him to take us to our house. The ride was twenty-three minutes and the total fee was 34.39. The cab pulled right in front of the house, screeching to a stop. I looked to my right where Ashley lived. On the other side of my house was Ryan. Two houses down was Sofia. The house in front of hers was Kris. Rynee's house was next to Kris's house. The only house with a light on, was Ryan's. His own room light was off, but the kitchen light was on. His porch was covered in snow and so was the driveway. For some reason, our driveway had been cleaned of snow. My immediate thoughts went to Sofia. She had told me that she would have taken care of the whole house before we had left. She kept that promise. The front door of Ryan's house opened, and the porch light came on.
