The speed limit was 25 mph... Tony was flooring it. It was almost like deja vu. The million phone calls, the feeling of his heart weighing down in his chest, his eyes watering up so much that he almost couldn't see the road in front of him. Tony wasn't that much of a crier, but frankly, he didn't give a damn. Clay... his best friend, was going to... He shakes the thoughts out of his mind. He wouldn't do that, not him. Never.
He couldn't help but think back too it. Clay's messages after 15 unanswered calls. In Tony's defense, it's 3:00 am. He didn't know what woke him up but he was sure as hell thank full to whatever it was...
My Clay: Tony... Please answer.
My Clay: please...
My Clay: I need you.
My Clay: please don't ignore me. not you..
My Clay: What am I saying, you're probably sleeping...
My Clay: Im so sorry...
My Clay: I can't take it anymore.
My Clay: I'm sorry Tony
I'm sorry Tony
Tony's breathing hitched. His knuckles turning pale by how hard his grip was on the steering wheel. "He needed me and I wasn't there to help if. I something happened... I don't think I could live with myself." Tony thought to himself, as much as he would hate too think it. Without Clay... He wouldn't know what to do anymore... The roads seem to carry on endless until he finally made it. He parked his car in the drive way before jumping out of his car and running up the steps. Judging by the empty drive way, his parents were gone. No surprise there, when were they home?
Although, the front door was unlocked, thankfully, he didn't knocked. Just slammed the door open and closed it with just as same amount of force. The house was quiet, too quiet for his liking. Tony could hear his own heartbeat as he called Clay's name over and over again as he ran up the stairs and into his room. Empty. He looked around frantically before the worst idea came back. He ran up the bathroom door and try to turn the handle but it was locked.
"C-Clay?" He said, putting his ear up the door, all he got back was just quiet sniffles. "Clay. Let me in." Tony said more demanding this time. Clay didn't answer again, Tony just sighed deeply and whispered sorry before backing up and kicking the door as hard as he can. The lock gave in after the third kick and swung right open, revealing Clay sitting there with his legs up to his chest. He was crying.
Before Tony went up to him, he looked over at the bright orange pill bottle on the counter. He felt his body almost shut down but came back too his senses when he heard Clay finally speak up, "I didn't take them, if that's what you're thinking..." Oh thank God! Tony rushed up by his side and crouched down to look at Clay.
"Are you okay?" Are you okay?? What kind of stupid question was that! Of course he's not okay I mean look at him. Clay just shakes his head and tries to avoid eye contact as much as possible. After a bit of silence and the realization that Clay wasn't going to say anything more, Tony spoke up again. "Why... Why did you even think about doing... This." He says, gesturing to the bathroom counter where the pills we're still sitting. He sat down in front of him, still looking for any signs of injuries, but he didn't find any. Clay just stared at the floor, he almost looked as if he was confused. Like he didn't even know the answer to that himself, but then he finally looked up. "I'm just done... after all the death. Everyone... Everyone I've loved and who had ever loved me are gone. I-I feel so alone." Tony couldn't help but feel a his heart hurt as he said that. But this wasn't about him... It was about Clay... Just tell him... Tell him. Tell him!
"I love you, Clay." He says silently. This wasn't how he planned telling Clay, but he needed to hear it now more then ever. He didn't care what Clay would say back, well maybe he did just a little. Okay a lot but that doesn't matter. All that matters was the boy sitting across from him. Clay's eyes widen a bit at the statement, but he just shaked his head in denial.
"S-Stop lying to me." Clay's voice started to shake. He looked way, breaking eye contact with him but Tony puts a hand on his cheek, pulling his face back so they were looking at each other again.
"I. Love. You." Tony say with a tone that got more serious was he said each word. Clay stays silent. Tony can see the tears come back in Clay's eyes but then he seen that spark. The spark Clay always had in his eyes when he was either happy or had hope. "I love you..." Tony says it again, it was bearly audible but he knew Clay could hear it.
"S-Say it again... Please." Clay stutters out, leaning forward to where he's laying against Tony's chest. It caused him to lean back against the toilet, but even if it was a uncomfortable, as long as Clay was there with him. He'll be fine. Tony's arms wrapped around him like a hug.
"I love you Clay." He says again, holding on to the crying boy in front of him like if he were to let go, he'll lose him forever. The silence returns, it wasn't like last time. Where it was stressful and tense. It was more... comforting then anything. Tony could stay like this forever, he wanted too. He finally felt calm... But then this happened...
"I love you too, Tony."
Idk how I felt about this chapter but I just decided it was better then reading a sad fanfiction. Bleh
