"Y-you!" Zelda gasped as he saw the just introduced man standing in front of her and Link. "What do you want?!" She yelled straight to his face.
"Let's calm down, now shall we?" Zant smirked.
"You f-fool! Stay away from me!" Zelda continued to shout as loud as she possibly could. This was the loudest Link had ever heard her voice reach. Of course, he hasn't known her for that long but he could've never have guessed that someone who was always presented calm and silent, could reach such fiery voice in a matter of seconds.
Zant was slowly dragging himself inch by inch toward Zelda, but he stopped shortly after as he locked his gaze upon Link. "Well, well, well... My dear Zelda, you didn't mention you've got company. Who is this hero?" He chuckled quietly while scanning Link from head to toe.
"Link." He stepped in front of Zelda and strecthed his arm in front of her like it was protecting her. "What do you want from us?" He asked as emotionless as he could.
"Oh, Link." Zant laughed maniacly. "I don't want anything from you, I just want the girl. You'd be wise to just give her to me now.." He proposed the idea.
Link frowned. "You think you're being funny with that?!" He spat with the tone of his voice changing to a very irritated one.
Zant's long sleeves, which looked like they beared no arms at all, waved in the gentle breeze as the spirits walzed around him. His mouth was exposed, but the rest of his face, if he had any, wasn't. He started to laugh once more and as his mouth opened Link was able to clearly see the immense cut that was upon both sides of his mouth. It disgusted him but at the same time he speculated about the fact of where could he have possibly get such a deep cut. "I wasn't joking." Zant then said between his laughter.
A remarkably loud retort came through Link's lips. He didn't say anything. He just frowned and slowly raised the sword Zelda had bestowed upon him, skyward.
Zant stopped laughing. "You know, Link, I don't think I fully introduced myself yet, and I do think it wise, since it seems like we are going to stay in each others lives for quite a bit, don't you think?" He moved onto smirking. His eyes were not visible, but Link didn't care to see them either, he knew already that the look he had upon his face, meant, that he was up to no good. "My name indeed is Zant, I am the ruler of this fragment of the universe." He started his introduction which nobody wished to hear.
"That's a lie!" Zelda's exceedingly exasperated voice entered the conversation as she strut from behind Link stopping right in front of Zant. "You imbecile! You know a bit too well that those pesky words that you just let out are a total lie!" Her lone voice echoed around in the kingdom of dead.
Whilst Zant looked at the enchantress that had entered from her safe spot, right in front of him, just like that. This was a perfect opportunity to snatch her away, but he decided that he was not going to take the girl with him, not just yet. He decided to have a little fun before that. He placed his seemingly existing freezing hand to Zelda's rosy cheek. "I expected better from you, ursurper countess." He flashed a smile for her, knowing that his way of words would anger her.
She slapped his hand away from her face and clenched her fists. She was overwhelmed with anger. As she could not control herself anymore, furiously she swung the wand in her left hand and as she did, Zant flew in an arc to the ground squishing a few spirits underneath him. After that she raised her right hand into the air and flicked her fingers, creating an dome above her and Link, seemingly her intention was to protect the pair from any upcoming attacks from the maniac who was slowly getting up from the ground.
The squished spirits escaped underneath him in the speed of light and vanished into the thick air. His gaze was locked to the cold ground as he dragged himself toward the dome. He slowly raised his face from the ground and stared right inside the dome at the pair. Even if his eyes were not visible, Link knew he was staring at them. His neck made a cracking sound as if fell a bit to the side, creating an very unfomortable looking position. "Now you've done it, Zelda, you've forced my hand." He spat with the tone of his voice clearly changing up a bit towards the furious one.
"You're intending to take me to your simpleton king aren't you?!" Zelda shouted right back at him through the dome.
Link raised his sword up a bit also, giving a warning to Zant.Zant's head was twitching. "Both of you faithless fools who would dare to take up arms against the king of light and shadow!" He screamed, literally, screamed. He raised his arms upward and teleported toward the dome smashing himself against it, the dome did not falter.
"That man will never be my king!" Zelda shouted fiercely. "I've got nothing but scorn for him!"
"I should have reprimanded you the last time we met, but instead I was... Soft! It's not that your life or death has any consequence, if only you'd never been born!" He shouted right back at Zelda whilst breaking the dome slowly. "You are nothing but a failure, nothing but a stupid girl who doesn't know when to quit! Too bad that turned to be your loss a century ago! I can't believe you already forgot! I was on a mission to finally take you away, but you know what?! I think I'll just take the pleasure and finish what we started so long ago!" He kept shouting, intending to hurt her feelings.
And he succeeded. Zelda's face fell terrified. She fell onto her knees defeated. She held her hand in front of her mouth as tears fell from her eyes like a rivers flow, they never seemed to stop. As her focus was demanded to move to something else, the barrier she created started to become fragile. As it faltered Link quickly ran to Zelda. "Zelda! Get it together, this is not the time to be bawling lik-"
A single flick of fingers was enough to send Link flying off. He got tossed back first into one of the few that inhabitated the land. His vision got blurry for a moment.
After he was finally able to see something else than galaxies in his eyes, he stumbled back onto his two feet. He leaned to the three looking for balance."You foolish traitor! I'll exterminate you!" Zant could be heard growling.
Link gazed toward the direction where his voice was heard.
And what he saw, was the most unexpected thing, he had ever seen during his short life. Zelda, hanging on the air while Zant had his hands tightly around her neck, chocking her to death. She tried to flail around but with no avail. His grip was too tight. It was quite amusing, yet very terrifying, to think, that just moments ago he had sworn to his dear Zelda that he'd only take her away, and now he was simply killing her, without any further thoughts."F... F-fight.." Zelda's voice was sore and it trembled as she called out for Link. "I-if you don't fight, you can't win!" She chocked as still with her last powers she tried to sign for Link to come save her.
Link noticed his sword on the ground, he picked it up into his trembling hands. He had never used a sword before, and definetely not killed anybody. His eyes widened as he looked at Zelda being killed right in front of him. "I... I can't do it!" He shouted as fear took control in him.
"Fight! Fight! F... fight!" Zelda tried to scream, until her arms got all sloppy and they fell beside her.
Zant's cutted mouth was smiling evily as it squeezed the girl wanting to snap her neck off.Suddenly, Link's chilling shout filled the milky way, as he ran towards Zant his sword ready to pierce his heart out.
And that is just what it did.
