"You've got some nerve trying to come in on the second semester. Half the course work has already been assaigned." My feet kicked nervously as I sat in the administrative office.

"I'm well aware sir, but my mother just passed, I had to postpone my education to care for her." I sighed. I hated giving the sob story. It was like i was playing thhe victim.

"I know it's gonna be hard but just give me a chance. I know I can do it. I'll work beyond my means." I pleaded. The dean of admissions here at the Burroughs of Manhattan Community College was not my favorite person at the moment. My application was just now being processed, 5 months after I submitted it, but if I wanted to attend college I was going to need to suck it up and kiss this man's ass.

"Listen, I'll give you a chance, because I'm a good person." He shrugged lazily in his chair. The irony in his sentence was almost humorous.

"Thank you so much!" My eyes began to water before I stopped myself.

"Don't thank me yet, thank me when you've caught up on an entire semester of work." He said.

Even his grimy attitude couldn't spoil mine right now.

"Your first class is at nine, you'll receive your full schedule once you fully apply."

"Where do I sign?" I smiled.

The bell attached to the front door of the store rang, signaling a customer had just entered. My position was back here, tending to the flowers not people.

"Hello, is anybody here?" A woman's voice called. Her question was left unresponsive and I grew curios as to why.

Peaking out from the back I found the store unattended. I was perplexed as to why Namjoon was absent, he was just here when I arrived in for work today. Knowing him as his impeccable work standards it seemed odd that he would leave. My mind traced back to the memory of him walking into Jin's office. There was definitely something happening between them.

I wiped my hands on my apron before stepping out to greet the woman.

"Ah yes, how may I help you?" I asked the old woman dressed in black. Besides me and her, there was only one other person working here, Yoongi, but he took the morning shift today.

Looking at her attire I assumed she was headed towards a funeral or an event of that sort, it was not uncommon to find those grieving in a flower shop, but she looked awfully happy for someone who had just experienced death, she did not appear sad.

"Can I get a bouquet of dark red roses." She asked hunched down on her cane.

I looked at her "I'm sorry but I don't think we have any at this time. Our provider hasn't been able to harvest any." I spoke, she kept her eerie demeanor.

"What about those in your locker?" She asked. I stared at her, clueless until I remembered the incident from earlier today.

"How did you know?" I asked. A chilling feeling grasped my spine and rattled my teeth. How would it be possible for this woman to know such a thing?

"I can see them from here but that is not the point my boy." Her eye twitched.

"Get me the flowers and I will give you something greater in return." Her offer sounded alluring, or maybe it was just her aura. But what could this old woman offer me? A butterscotch candy?

I walked, not knowing why on earth I was following her orders, to the back where the employee lockers were and retrieved the stained roses. the specs of crimson had expanded and they had become completely red. It was baffling but I guess logical given a flowers anatomy.

"Here you go." I returned, the room still felt unusual due to her presence. Handing her the pairs of roses felt like a trade, but I was risking my soul and she didn't seem like she played fair.

"As my part of the deal, this is the girl you want to find. She is your soulmate. Find her. She in near, very near to you." Across the counter she slid the portrait of a young woman. A soulmate? Did she not know those things don't exist now a days?

"Who is she, and how do you know she's my soulmate?" I questioned, the situation in which we where in was all too obscure.

"Her name is Mila, just trust me. She will be yours." I rambled questions at her response. There was no way this woman knew who my soulmate was, but there the same feeling was again, a feeling of fate.

She smelt the roses, inhaling their scent deeply, "Dark roses were my sisters favorite." She formed a twisted grin as he grip tightened around the flowers. The almost seemed to wither at her touch.

"I must be going now, I wish you the best. Congratulations." Her cane struck the tile with every step she took. My heartbeat matched her movement.

I watched helplessly as she exited, leaving me glistening with a mixture of excitement, fear, and skepticism.

Could this be real? Was she really mine to be?

My fingers traced the picture.
