26 YEARS LATER
Billy ended his relationship with Sarah after she told the police that Alan got sucked into a board game, everyone in the town including her own parents called her crazy, she became incredibly lonely, always having nightmares about Alan.
Judy and Peter Shepard had just moved into the old Parrish place with their Aunt Nora, one morning she left the children to get on the school bus. But they heard a mysterious banging noise coming from the attic. Scared, they went up and looked for the source of the noise. Peter was quick to find it, they completely forgot about school. Judy added two tokens to the game, not noticing the other two, she rolled a 3 and her piece moved and the bats came out, the siblings ducked under the table. When it was Peter's turn he rolled a 5, his token moved and he heard a low growl that he knew belonged to a lion. As the man-eating beast approached them a man came out of the game and scared the lion into one of the bedrooms. "Did someone roll a 5 or an 8" He said loudly. Judy pointed to Peter, Alan lifted him up and screamed "THANK YOU!!"
The children somehow managed to get Alan to play; they all tried to roll but their tokens wouldn't move. "Why isn't it working?" Judy said impatiently. Alan suddenly remembered "It's not your turn" he answered.
"Yeah it is, I rolled first, then Peter, then you, now its me again" she said.
"No, see there, there's a fourth piece" Alan replied and pointed to it.
"Oh yeah, who's is it?" she asked.
"Sarah Whittle's" he said and smirked.
..................
After that, Alan took the children to the house Sarah lived in as a child. They approached the door and Alan stopped "I know she's not here, she probably married Billy Jessup and they're living in a trailer park" Peter stopped him from leaving and Judy said "Lets at least ask"
They knocked on the door and heard a woman say "Who is it?" then Judy said back "Can you help us?"
The door then opened slightly and a blonde woman's face appeared in the space "With what?" she asked, Peter stepped forward "We're looking for someone who used to live here" the woman shook her head "That's impossible, I've lived here all my life"
Alan looked into her eyes "Sarah?" he said, she looked away "I don't go by that name anymore" she said and tried to shut the door but Alan put his hand there and said "Sarah Whittle?" she looked at him again "What do you want?" she asked.
"26 years ago, you played a game with a little boy down the street" he started and got closer to the door "A game with drums and bats" she looked shocked "How do you know that?" she asked. "I was that little boy Sarah" he replied and a shocked expression appeared on her face "Alan?" she muttered, fainting.
He opens the door and lifts her up, carrying her back to the Parrish house. As he placed her on the sofa she woke up in a terrible state, her eyes were filled with tears, she used the phone to contact her counsellor saying she needs to be checked over because she's having an episode with a boy who didn't really disappear. When she put the phone down, Alan put something on the table "While we wait" he said and she looked down "Woah! No!" she screamed, jumping over the back of the sofa "No, no, no, no!"
Alan went around to the other side, coming face to face with her. He takes her hands in his own "Look, we started playing a little game 26 years ago and now were all going to sit down and finish it" he sat on the sofa with her next to him. He passed the dice to her, she slowly dropped them on the board, the message said 'They grow much faster than bamboo, take care or they'll come after you"
Alan took Sarah's arm bringing her close to him, the children followed. Sarah was breathing heavily as vines were growing around the room "Oh God!, tell me this isn't happening" Sarah muttered, Alan held her close, trying desperately to soothe her. Vines started coming out of the ceiling. Alan cleared his throat and said "Don't touch anything, all the plants are extremely poisonous" which made Sarah tremble.
