Chapter 1Tick... tock.
I heard a clock in the distance.Everything I could see was a heavy black cloud in front of me. I couldn't remember what I was dreaming about just a few seconds ago. My nose suddenly met a very particular scent. It was sweet and alluring, it was actually pleasant. It didn't annoy me, instead, it somehow made me feel safe, so safe that I didn't even feel the urge of opening my eyes right away.
I saw a small light forming in the black cloud I was seeing (as my eyes were closed). It went away and then it was back, multiple times.
The flickering light got my interest.
I slowly opened my eyes, but my eyelids felt almost too heavy for my face... I was tired.
I got rid of the black cloud I was seeing only to find complete darkness once again. It was either night time or I was locked up somewhere.
I couldn't recall how I got there.
I couldn't recall anything from my past either. My eyes got used to the darkness and I could finally see some more again. It was a very simple room: I slightly turned my head to the right, since the light came from there and I saw a small box projecting the pulse of my heart.
I rested in my lying position.
I was disoriented and confused, but something, something in my mind was telling me to stay calm.
Anyone else would've probably freaked out in this situation, or so I believed, but there I was, calmly looking at what surrounded me without being anxious of anything.Something perhaps seemed off. I wasn't myself maybe, but I didn't have any will to question that further.
As I brought myself up I noticed something cold touching my wrist.
It was some sort of metallic bracelet that was connected to the white box which I had just noticed earlier. It was weird, I had never seen anything like that in my life... or it wasn't something I was familiar with, but again, I didn't have any will to think about this.
I tried to recall some of my memories again, if I even had any. But I couldn't really think of anything. Nothing popped up in my mind, I tried to remember having a mother and father, but they were just blank soulless people in my mind, I couldn't think of a face or even a name to give them.
The same also went for everything else, I really couldn't recall anything. Actually, I didn't even know what the world looked like. I couldn't understand much, but I knew I was still able to speak... How did I learn to speak if I couldn't think of anything else that had happened to me before? I could remember only some things like the fact that I'm supposed to have parents, but that's probably something the whole humanity knows no matter the situation they're in.
I stood up from the bed and grabbed the small white box. Since the bracelet was connected to it, I couldn't move unless I brought it along with me.
I looked at the other side of the bed: there was a piece of glass that showed 01:58 written in red. That's what a clock looks like, or so I could recall. Perhaps the noise I heard...? But no, this one was digital and it didn't make any sound. The room, in fact, was completely silent. There wasn't any trace of the sound I heard before waking up.
I looked again around me. My sight was getting sharper as it got used to the dark.
I could see two small windows on my left and opposite them, on the other wall, a door.
