If Isaac really thought that I wasn't going then he was absolutely insane. I wasn't going to stay at home while my only friends saved the world!
Well...that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but they were definitely saving Beacon Hills.
I had been cooped up for years and when I finally got a chance to leave the house some dickhead has the odacity to tell me no.
Well jokes on him because I was going going anyway....Katelyn style.***
"Stiles hurry up we have to leave in five minutes!" I call, listening to my brother shuffle around his room from the other side of his door.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm on my way!" He shouts back, making me roll my blue orbs so far into my cranium I'm surprised they don't get stuck there.
"Whatever you say..." I mutter under my breath, skipping down the stairs one at a time as I wait for my twin brother.
"Don't look at me like that!" He grumbles as we walk out the door. "It takes time and effort to look as sexy as me."
"You're delusional." I scoff, turning away from the boy grudgingly.
I lurch to a stop once I see my father, Stiles bumping into me in surprise."Dad?"
"Hey guys." He smiles reluctantly, obviously hiding something from us.
"Why are you home so early?" I question, letting out a stiff laugh at the fact that Stiles and I are going to a party without our dad's permission.
"And where's your gun?" Stiles adds, furrowing his eyebrows in suspicion.
Our father sighs, rubbing a hand over his aging face in exhaustion.
In that moment all the horrors the army put him through were visible. Lines on his face that I had never noticed before suddenly stuck out like a sore thumb, signs of the grief losing his wife put him through.
The man takes a breath and looks at his two children reluctantly, telling them the truth."I left it at the station, along with my badge." He sighs, sadness crossing his features.
"W-what? Why!?" I question, stepping forward in disbelief and horror.
"It was decided that the children of the police chief stealing police property and having a restraining order filed against them by one of the town’s most respected attorneys did not reflect well on the county." He muttered solemnly, my gut filling with an unholy amount if guilt and regret.
"They fired you?" Stiles utters out, shocked, as I grip onto his sleeve, awaiting our scolding.
"No, it’s a leave of absence. It’s temporary." Our father explains, glancing at his children wearily.
"Did they say it was temporary or—" My twin starts, the fact that our father had been fired still not setting in.
"Actually, no. You know, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. We’re going to be fine." The man dismisses with a wave of his hand, shoving his emotions away like he was so used to.
I guess that's where I got it from..
