EVER since that day of what could have been the most awkward confession of my life (not that I've had many to start with), I decide to give him at least a chance, or at least giving both of us a shot at being friends.. and I'm doubting it's a good decision.
"Are you ready to go?"
"Have you really memorized my schedule?"
"No. I got a copy of it."
"How?"
"Connections."
I just nod, acknowledging the fact that I don't really know anything about his ties inside the school... Wow, I couldn't have thought of that before I treated him badly?
"Hey, you're classroom's here..."
"Oh, yeah, sorry..."
His eyebrows suddenly knit together. "I seriously doubt that Izzy is a good tourguide."
"She is... I was just thinking about... things."
His eyebrow shot straight up. "Things?"
"N-nevermind." I was making my way inside the classroom when a sudden force shoves me in. "Ouch!"
"What do you think you're doing, huh?" In a flash, Henry's got someone by the collar, clearly outraged. "Do you have any idea of the things I can do to you?"
"S-sorry, Henry." I can see the guy's vain attempts at breaking free from his grasp. "I-I didn't know she was standing there..."
"Well you better get your eyes checked, August."
"Hey, Henry, I'm fine." I touch his tensed shoulder, the strong muscles so obvious under his uniform. "I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it."
He looked at me before giving a loud sigh and releasing the guy's collar. "You're too kind, Laylah.. and this school feeds on kind people." He approaches me to make himself clearer. "You won't survive here out of humility."
His eyes just bore into me like he was speaking to my soul so I do the one thing I can think of, nod.
He turns to that guy named August. "Sorry, bro." He fixes the guy's collar. Really? Bromance? In front of me? "Just a little protective of my new... friend."
"It was my fault anyway." they fist-bump each other.
He looks at me. "I gotta go, I'm running late."
"Okay, bye."
"Don't worry, I'll watch her for you." August said with an assuring smile.
"Thanks, but don't go shoving her out after classes, though!" Henry shouts at him.
"I won't! I won't.." He shouts back, laughing. He turns to look at me, then winks. "I think we're going to be very close."
Compared to Henry, I think he'd be a better choice, relationship-wise. He's closer to my type of guy...
"I don't think I've properly introduced myself... I'm August." He lends out his hand and I take it.
