AN: Yes, there are references everywhere. Keep an eye out for them.

"Today is the day," I thought, "Tonight is my last night on Earth."

I gripped the rails tight, not wanting to accidentally fall into the river. If I were to die today, I wanted to do it on purpose.

"I'm coming, Ry," I looked at the stars. "Soon."

I jumped.

"No!" Someone grabbed my arm before I let go of the rail. I whipped my head around to see a small teenage boy with shaggy black hair and bulging green eyes was holding onto me so tight, it hurt.

"You dumbass!"

"I won't let you jump."

"You don't even know me." I tried to shake my arm free. His hand didn't budge.

"I'm not letting go until you get away from that rail."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously."

"Fine." I climbed over the rail and swatted his hand away from my arm. I stepped away from the rail slowly.

"I'm Billie." He stuck his hand out.

"You're a fucking idiot." I ran to the rail again.

"No!" He jumped on my back, knocking me onto the ground.

"I hate you!" I tried to roll him off me. It shouldn't have been that hard. He was ridiculously small.

"I know. Get up." He got off me and held his hand out, offering to help me up. I pushed it away and got off the ground. Should I try again? "Don't even think about trying again." Well, then.

"Why are you stopping me?"

"Because I'm a good person. Go home."

"I don't take orders from you."

"You got up when I told you to."

"Because I wanted to." I walked away from him to my house. He followed. "Stop following me."

"I live over here."

"I'm really not in the mood for your bullshit."

"No shit, Sherlock."

"Fuck off."

-----

I went inside my house through the front door. "Mike?" My mom's voice was coming from the living room.

"Yeah?" I entered the room.

"You're late."

"Sorry. Mishap at the bridge."

"What happened this time?"

"Some kid was trying to jump."

"You stopped it?"

"I helped. Anyway, I'm going to bed." I spun on my heel and ran to my room in the basement
