In your early years of school, being the chubby kid is rough. It doesn't matter how smart or nice you are, you will always be the odd one out. You are seen as disgusting and weird, but also a punching bag. Ya know, it was kind of enjoyable. No one to piss you off, no one to talk to, just you and yourself, plus the assholes who make your weight very apparent. When you are the "Fat Kid", every kid makes it so obvious. It's basically your identity, kind of like the "Slut" or "High school Dropout".
It didn't help that I was also terrible at sports, and when you're a kid, you NEED to be sporty. If you're an art kid, it's swirly central. Art is seen as "gay" in the mind of 10 year Olds, and the term "gay" is used quite frequently as a insult. Also, calling the weird girl a "lesbian" is also a crucial part of growing up...(I was the weird girl).
