Clouds

Questions?

The familiar sounds of my crazy family echoed down the hall.
My mother was the first to greet me with her pale white cloud dancing gracefully around her neck, spiralling around her to the floor.
I gently took a step back to avoid touching the serpent like creature, after what happened in the woods, I no longer trust the strange entireties.
My mother disappeared into the living room, followed by the coiling puff.
My sister was the next to slide out of her room at the sound of my voice, her cloud drifted around her, never deciding where it wanted to stay, constantly moving only to then sit in one place for a few minutes then move again.
After a few minutes of talking about what I got up to my sister finally went back into her room, allowing me to slip into my own room.
My bed sank a little as I sat down to think, questions circled around in my head, why do I not have my own cloud?, why can I see them? and what is that creature which killed that little girl?.
My head started to throb at the thought of so many questions racing around, I decided to text my best friend Chloe, telling her that I was on my way.
Chloe always helped me when I needed help, she knew everything about me, even that I didn't have a cloud.
We created a small journal, documenting everything about the creatures, we nicknamed clouds, clouds took on some aspect of the person they bonded too, Chloe's cloud was erratic and often couldn't decide on where it would like to go, similar to Chloe.
The "evil" cloud as I named it, had never been heard of, that's what troubled me greatly.
I grabbed a jacket and my phone then rushed out my house, shouting goodbyes to my family.
The street was calm and peaceful, I had a sense of unease, my street was never this deserted.
I felt like I was being watched.
