Dark shapes flashed around me, swirling and mixing like black paint dropped into water. They consumed me and drained the energy from my limbs, every footsteps became harder,  my lead like shoes left small ditches where they started to drag.
I collapsed and watched the stone cold ground rush up to cushion my fall. My eyes snapped shut as I awaited the stinging sensation but it never came, bright fluffy clouds burned my senses and the air was filled with scents of summer like flowers and fresh cut grass.
Before I could collect my thoughts, the shapes faded, I met the ground hard and the awaited stinging sensation arrived before I was plunged into darkness.
Deep throbbing greeted me, a high pitched noise flooded my ears and pierced into my skull. The world around me swirled into one, black dots danced across the scene.
My legs felt like rock, unable to move from where they landed. slowly my senses calmed and I could once again hear the running river and small birds sung into the sapphire sky. I heaved my legs into sitting position and allowed the world to become clear again.
The river was covered by thick trees and bushes, the small path I lay on was rarely used which allowed nature to slowly recapture what she lost.  The path home was a long one but with those creatures lurking out of sight, I knew I had to get out of here.
