Prologue

It was time. Time for the sun to set on a golden, glorious summer. As the orange sun sank, I wiped away my tears and pulled the blue starfish out of my bucket. I let it slip through my fingers and splash into the surf, to be a victim of the waves and tides. Lost. Slowly walking along the sugar white beach, tinted peachy in the sunset, I dropped every shell behind me, each one a memory. Finally, my hand closed on the pieces of the shattered sand dollar, my broken heart. I let them go to the sea, too. As I trudged back, my bucket felt heavy, but my heart, light.
