"Hope, wake up honey!," yells Amelia, Hope's mom.
"5 more minutes," mumbles a sleepless Hope.
Busting into the door, Amelia states "Hope, we have 10 minutes until we leave! You have to get up!"
Hope let out a large sigh, and slid out of her bed, brushed her teeth, washed her face, changed her clothes, and suddenly was out of the door in what seemed like a split second.
"Honey, you can't oversleep like this every day. It's not healthy," states Amelia.
"I know mom, I just really had to study last
night and you know that's my priority right now," argues Hope.
"I realize you have priorities, but sleep should be number one on your extensive list."
Hope stayed silent, refusing to endure what she felt was a personal attack at the early hours of the morning. Mornings are definitely not Hope's cup of tea. Arriving at school, Hope exits the car, says goodbye to her mom, and walks away. As she approaches the front doors of the school, she runs into her friend she has know since third grade, Justin Adams. Justin was a widely known fuckboy and jerk, but Hope always put up with his bologna. Hope and Justin always walked to first period together and had a few other classes together as well. Their history as friends has always been a bit of a whirlwind, but they are still best friends. "Hey, Just!" exclaims Hope.
"Hi, how are you?" states Justin.
"Lacking sleep and energy, what about you?"
"I'm great. I just found out I made it into this really amazing summer camp for hockey,"
says Justin, trying not to laugh at Hope's uninterested look on her face.
"That's awesome," Hope said, sounding half asleep still.
"Well, I've got to get to class sleepy, see you later," said Justin, walking to his first period class.
Hope struggled to stay awake for the first few periods of the day, but something interesting struck her in her third period class: a new kid.
