Chapter One. Makaela's POV

They just kept coming. Punch after punch, kick after kick, slap after slap. I was used to this now since it's been going on for 7 years. Ever since I was five (I'm 12 now) my 'father' has abused me. I would've ran far away if it wasn't for Kellin. Kellin was my best friend, my shoulder to cry on, he was always there for me when I needed him. He usually never asks why, but last week he asked why I'm always crying.

*Flashback*

My 'father' was done abusing me for the morning and told me to get ready for school, and to hurry if I wanted a ride to school. I took the quickest shower I've ever gotten, ran to my bedroom, picked out my school clothes (A Black Veil Brides shirt, gray pants, and my neon blue Nike trainers) and went downstairs. "You're wearing that to school?" My father asked with slight disgust. "Yes father." I said with attitude. "Last time I checked I was 12, not 5." I said. Big mistake. That attitude earned me two slaps to the face and a kick to the ribs.

"Do not have that attitude with me again young lady!" he spat in my face. "Y-yes father" I said quietly. "Now you can walk to school. You need the exercise anyway" my father said with a laugh. I went out the door and started walking. I tried not too but I ended up crying. Kell saw me and ran over to me and asked what was wrong. "N-nothing" I said quietly. "Something's wrong Kaela." He said sternly. "No, n-nothing's wrong.." I mumbled. He stepped in front of me and stood eye level with me. "Stop lying Makaela. Tell me the truth. I won't tell anyone, I swear." He said, firmly. "P-promise?" I asked, quietly "Promise" he said and we started walking again.

"Okay.." I said and took a deep breath. "You know how I'm always crying & I say it's nothing and you just brush it off?" He nodded. "Well.. My father.. He uh.. He abuses me" I mumbled "he what?" Kellin asked. "He abuses me" I said a little louder. Kellin balled his hands into fists and clenched his jaw. Tightly. "K-Kellin? Are you alright..?" I asked. "Just go. I don't want to hurt you." He said through clenched teeth

*Flashback over*

It's been three weeks since I told him that, but I'm still scared he'll find out how long it's been happening. Almost 8 years. I'm gonna move out soon, I just don't know when. It might be soon, but it might be a few months. I really hope it's soon because I'll end up fighting back and getting a worse beating than usual.

*Michael's POV*

I was walking towards the office when I noticed her. She was beautiful. She had long black hair with streaks of blue & green with bleach blonde tips. I had to know her name. After I got my schedule, the lady behind the desk said its time for 3rd period, which is gym. I headed towards the gym and noticed that I had gym with the girl I saw earlier.

When I got to the gym, I walked over to her. "Hi, I'm Michael." I said smiling. "Uh.. Hi Michael. I'm Makaela. Kaela for short." She said quietly. "I like your shirt" I said and pointed at her Black Veil Brides shirt. "Thanks." She said and looked up at me. That's when I noticed she had the prettiest eyes.

They were bright blue with specks of green & brown. She had the perfect face & features. Her face was spotted with freckles almost everywhere. She was absolutely stunning. "Mind if I sit beside you?" I asked. "No, not at all" she said, looking back down.

*Makaela's POV*

Michael sat beside me and started tapping his fingers on the seats like he was playing the drums. It sounded familiar once he started doing it for a few seconds. He started lightly saying the words. Then I realized what it was. Can You Feel My Heart? by Bring Me The Horizon. "You know that song?" I asked. "Uh.. Yeah. You?" He said and looked over at me. "Yeah, I'm listening to it now." I said with a slight smile. "You have a pretty smile." He said and blushed. "Thank you." I mumbled and slightly blushed too. "Do you want to do something after school..? It's okay if you don't.." He asked and looked at the floor. "Yeah, sure" I said slightly smiling.
