((Sorry peoples but I need to make Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, Lloyd, and Leray, 21 in this for my short story to work. Also all you How To Train Your Dragon fans, look out for the one reference I have (the reference is from the movie not the tv show). How many of you can find it?))

Leray POV

A year ago I left my family to go looking for my birth family. You see, I was adopted thirteen years ago today by Dr. Julian, an inventor. At the time he was building a robot. I helped him, and within a year he was completed and named Zane. Together Dr. Julian and I taught Zane, to speak, cook, etc. like you would to a child. When I was 20 I decided to go looking for my birth family. Because I have no memories of before Dr. Julian adopted me. And now a year has passed, and what I learned, I wish I never had.
I have no mother, for I was made from dark matter by the Over Lord. The most evil person ever. I don't even know if I can call him a person. He is more like a dragon, but is currently stuck in the form of an orb. A black pulsing orb with a dark purple center.
I know because I went to the dark island, the place where he is trapped, to find him. He told me that I was made to unbalance the odds so he could win. I refused to help him and got off the land as fast as I could in my small boat.
And know here I stand in the Birch Woods in front of the fake tree that Dr. Julian uses as his home.
Taking a deep breath I open the door and descend the spiral staircase to the small circular living space below. The place smells dusty and I can smell rotting food in the refrigerator. No one has been here for a long time.
"Zane?" I call out my brothers name. "Father?" I consider Dr. Julian and Zane my family more than the Over Lord.
"Zane? Father?" I ask again a bit louder this time.
Sill I get no answers. I look around till I stumble across a folded piece of paper on the night stand by Dr. Julian's bed.
Sitting on the bed and unfolding the paper I read-
Dear Leray,
I will be dead by the time you read this. I can already feel my body failing me. I have decided to turn off Zane's memories when I die. I will do this because I love him and you. Promise me that if you find him and he has not reaccessed his memories, you will not tell him who he is. I am proud of you to go looking for your real family and want you to know that I will always think of you as my daughter and Zane my son.
-Julian
Tears well up in my eyes. "I promise father." I whisper. Julian is dead and I don't even know where my brother is. I gently fold the paper and place it in my jean pocket.
Standing I adjust my gray tank-top and straiten my jean jacket then fit my sword more comfortably on my hip, readjusting the belt.
I need to find my brother.

~oOo~

I sit on the fountain edge in Jamanakai Village, it's been three days since I left the Birch Woods. I had asked around in the nearest towns to the Birch Woods, if they had seen a boy with hair so blond it's almost white and Ice blue eyes, who was always calm and had a small sense of humor, and had a high tolerance for cold weather.
I had a lead but lost it. Some people in a village by the Birch Woods knew Zane for a while. He would do jobs for them in the extreme cold. But they said he disappeared with an old man.
So now here I am. Lost and alone. People look at me then walk away. I guess the sword throws them off. But you would not believe what I ran into on my journey to find my birth family. And look at how well that turned out. I never should have left Zane and Dr. Julian.
I pull my ponytail tighter and flick my long brown hair over my shoulder. This is boring. I wonder if there is a place nearby that I can practice my sword fighting. I lay down crossing my ankles, putting my hands under my head, and closing my eyes.
I don't know how long I slept, but the sound of someone jumping on the fountain makes me jump to my feet drawing my sword.
I see a boy in black clothes and a black cape with the hood pulled up. He looks at me, brilliant green eyes flashing in the shadow of his hood. A serpentine slithers up, "Do you want me to take care of her?"
"No I got this." The boy said curling his hands into fists.
"Good." I slice the head off the serpentine. "Snakes are annoying."
The boy eyes the blade of my sword. "How about a fist fight. I don't have a sword."
"Fine." I shrug sheathing my sword and raising my fists. "I should warn you. My name is Leray, the daughter of the Over Lord."
"Then I should warn you. My name is Lloyd, the son of Lord Garmadon." He mimics back.
I smile. He's clever.
We start fighting, but in a flash I win, ending up sitting on his stomach. "Now what was it you said.... oh yes. You said a warning. Garmadon child."
"I can't breath." He puffs, trying to get up. His hood falls off, revealing a shock of gold-blond hair.
My heart lurches. Goodness he's cute. He pushes me and I jump back kneeling a foot away from him. He rolls onto his side, coughing for breath.
He sits up and looks at me. "You're a good fighter."
"Right back at you." I reply, then I smile "Except, obviously I am the better fighter."
Lloyd laughs a bit pulling his hood back on, then he looks around at the serpentine as they retreat. "There goes my army." He says as we get to our feet. "Well I know when I am beaten. Rematch sometime?"
"Sure." I say simply, my heart fluttering.
Stop it. I scold myself. He works with SERPENTINE he isn't good.
Lloyd looks over my shoulder at something behind me. He narrows his eyes and growls. "Ninja. I should have known." Then Lloyd turns and runs after the snakes, his cape fluttering out behind him.
"Cole!" Someone shouts behind me. "You have the anti-venom! Put it in the fountain!"
"Right." Another person grunts, and I watch as a young man in a black runs over to the fountain sticking the serpentine's staff in the water.
The anti-venom moves away from the staff as mist through the town. I suddenly feel guilty. I had been so focused on Lloyd I hadn't noticed that the people of the town had been hypnotized by the serpentine.
I watch as three other men walk over to the one in black. One was blue, one was red, and the last was white. All four are wearing ninja outfits, more commonly known as a gi. The blue one has the golden nunchuks of lightning, the red one has the golden dragon sword of fire, the white one has the golden shurikens of ice, and the black one the golden scythe of quakes.
Walking over to the fountain, I unsheathe my sword and wash off the blood. The one in white looks at me. "I saw you fighting Lloyd. You fought very well. May I ask where you learned?"
I sheath my sword, drying my hands on my jeans. "I don't know. It just sort of made sense." I look the four young men up and down. "What are you guys supposed to be?"
The one in blue laughs. "Well we're ninja of course! I'm Jay ninja of lightning, the red guy is Kai ninja of fire, the one in black is Cole leader and ninja of earth, and in white is Zane ninja of ice."
The other three glare at Jay like he wasn't supposed to say that. But I'm not aware of anything after Jay said the white ninja's name. "Zane." Just like my brother's name.
I grab the edge of the fountain with my left hand, suddenly unstable. Zane notices and grabs my right elbow, trying to steady me. "Are you okay?" Kai, the red one, asks me.
"Yes." I say taking a deep breath. "My brother was named Zane. I haven't seen him for a year. I doubt he even remembers me. He lost his memory." I look into the white ninja's eyes. Ice blue.
To much is happening at once. My vision is darkening. "Oh gosh. I think I'm going to faint." I say, my voice wobbly. Then, sure enough, everything goes black.
