The internet blew up the day #Jerika was exposed as a act for views. I myself was not surprised, I've watched Jake since he was on vine. It was pretty obvious to me that he has always been in it for the money and the fame. Jake and Alissa Violet (his ex) have had very big problems since their breakup in February. It was a public breakup, the internet took sides immediately. Nobody knows the true story. Personally I think they both made some pretty dicky moves. But when Alissa leaked the #Jerika text messages Jake lost a lot of credibility and subscribers. So Jake, trying to raise himself back to the top decided it would be fun to withhold a "Team 10 Audition". My manager. Mark Schulman contacted me with in the hour. I had just moved from Wisconsin to L.A, it was a big transition but I was ready to make the leap into the talent world. Mark thought this would grow me faster than any of my other options.

The deadline of the audition tapes were a week from announcement, I had mine finished and edited within three days, I sent it in hopeful, this would be my chance to make myself known. I was aspiring to be a author and producer. In highschool I wrote screenplays, and even lyrics for my own student made musicals. I decided that night I would do my research on Jake and the rest of Team 10. I was never a fan of Jake, I knew who he was and I knew what he was about, money. From my research I picked a few things up from his vlogs. He put his friends, or should I say employees out there. Made them famous, by doing so he created characters, he likes to put out crazy ideas and play them in as normal things. I remember thinking to myself "Tegan, are you ready to put your entire life online, to be exploited, and to be connected to a contract," The answer was no, but I didn't know that.
The week went on, no response yet from my manager. Soon Sunday was upon me, this was the day I would figure out if I got to go into the Team 10 House for a follow up interview. I putzed around my apartment, washing dishes, cleaning the windows, sweeping, vacuuming, I made my bed, dusted... well everything. I'm a nervous cleaner, I don't enjoy cleaning, but It's a stressor that takes away from other stresses. Whenever my phone would buzz I'd drop what I was doing and race to see what it was. But hours passed when I finally received a call from Mark, my manager.
"You won't believe what I've just been told!" Mark exclaimed. I dropped my mop and let out a screech of excitement as Mark told me the details of the interview I'd be having tomorrow with Jake's manager, and the business side of Team 10.
"I'll forward the e-mail for you to look over," Mark said ending our call. I reached for my laptop and pulled it onto my kitchen counter. I opened my E-mail and read the message.

The next few days flew by, before I knew it I was getting into my uber to be brought to the Team 10 house in West Hollywood. I reapplied chapstick over and over... and over again, a nervous habit of mine. When the car came to a stop, I saw a huge crowd of kids and teenagers outside of a gated house.
"Well this must be it," I said to myself as I paid the uber driver. It's alright Tegan, you'll be alright. I thought to myself as I stepped up to the gate, I was welcomed by someone I recognized as Chance Sutton, 1/2 of Chessa, 1/3 of the Ohio boys. He was a smiley guy, he walked me into the large house and told me to wait near the others.

Filled the house was many beautiful girls, wearing lots of makeup and designer clothing, beautiful girls I couldn't compete with myself. I was a fit girl, but I had meat on my bones unlike most these girls. I didn't have the super long legs and porcelain skin. I was 5'7, light brown, shoulder length hair, nice teeth, gummy smile, broad shoulders, I was toned, but had a wider waist, blueish gray eyes, I was tan thanks to my Native America heritage but I wasn't beautiful like these girls I was gonna be competing with. I waited my turn and watched girls come out of the office, some smiling, some screaming, most crying. You could easily tell who was actually there to try and get the job and who was there just to see Jake Paul in the flesh. I could care less about the people there, it may sound selfish and shallow because, well, it is. I only wanted the job for the attention I'd be getting from different talent scouts and producers. So yeah, I guess me and Jake would have lots in common. Soon my name was called from the office and I timidly walked inside. I scanned the room. Inside was 'uncle Kade', Nick Compton the "England is my city" dude, a few other faces I didn't recognize, and right in the middle was the infamous Jake Paul.

I took a deep breath as I sat down in the empty chair, straightened my posture and folded my hands.
"Okay so we're gonna ask you a few questions, find out what your intentions are, etc." Nick said as he shuffled some papers.
"Alrighty!" I say putting on my biggest, fakest, smile.

"So, how come you auditioned, why do you want to be apart of Team 10?" Jake asks me. He has a stern and tough face, something I didn't see when I watched all those vlogs the night before.
"I've just graduated college with my Ph.D and Masters in film production, and I feel this is a great way to get myself out there in the world and expand my opportunities. Not only will I become more successful career wise, I will be able to meet new people and be part of this family," I answer with my most professional, yet cheery voice.
"So you're a doctor? How old are you?" Nick asked me curiously.
"I'm 24, I graduated highschool at age 16, went to the university of Madison for 8 years and then moved out here," I say bitting my lip slightly.

"What is something you could bring, that nobody else couldn't?" Jake asked rubbing his temples.
"I'm a doctor, imagine how much clickbait that title of mine can bring," I said with a fake giggle. "But in all seriousness, I'm a creative writer, I would not only be able to help out on the talent part of things, but also help on the business side of things," I answered smoothing out my blouse. The questions went on for a while, they told me they'd give me a call at the end of today if I had made it. The phone call changed my life.
