There was this girl in my class.

She just transferred this semester. She’s a little bit mysterious. She wears all black. Sometimes a little red, but never without black.

I sit beside her at Sociology class. Whenever I take my seat, I just feel this chill that won’t go ‘til I look at her. And whenever I do, it’s as if I see a very vivid reddish smoke come out of her.

I guess I speak for the entire room when I spell the word “weird” each time any living thing looks at her.

We’ve never spoken even once. But I don’t know.. I wanted to.. Probably because of the hundreds of questions I have for her. For instance, why does she dress like that?

“Are you done?”

I snapped. I realized I’ve been staring at her for more than a minute now.

“Huh? What?”

I was too caught off guard that I had to feign ignorance.

“At the attendance sheet. Are you done?”

Her voice is nice.. Very low, and cute. I can’t believe she’s talking to me.

She raised an eyebrow just as I realized that my arm is on top of the sheet for a while now.

“Oh sorry.” I said, handing her the paper, “Here.”

She took it, had a little look, and turned to me,

“Look, Darrell,”

My eyes widened.

Did she just call me by my first name?

“All you did was hold the sheet long enough to make me ask if you’re done with it. Would you go to jail for it? Obviously no…

“Never say sorry unless it’s a real crime, comprende?” she said, then turned to the paper.

No one calls me by my first name, at least not in this school. And did she just lectured me?

Whoa. She probably likes me already. That’s quick, goth girl. I almost lost my cool, and ask if you have the hots for me. In fact, that’s part of my top first questions in mind.

Our professor, Gregory Heaton started teaching us about I don’t know. I don’t pay attention to any of my professors. I don’t have to go to school. But this professor, I noticed he’s a little interested with goth girl. He keeps on asking her about the lesson.

He’s probably curious about her too.
Heaton is just 6 years older than me. Sometimes students would have a poll on which one of us is the most good looking. It’s fine as long as they choose between me and a teacher.

Although I hate losing. Very much.

Goth girl answers each and every question of his with full confidence. She’s quite amazing actually. Sometimes Heaton asks about personal stuffs like her deviances. But to make it less obvious that he just wanted Goth girl to answer, he asks everyone of us.

Sorry Heaton, Goth girl already likes me..
After the class ended, I stayed, planning to chat to Goth girl for a bit. My classmates one by one made their way out except her.

Heaton is erasing the writings on the white board when Goth girl walks up to him.

“Sir, I like you.” She told him.

My mouth flew open. WHA-?
Checkmate already?!

Heaton turned his attention to her, closely facing Goth girl, just his table was in their way.

“Excuse me miss Herrera?” Greg replied in a tone like he’s acting cool about it.

“I like you. I don’t plan to do anything about it. So please, if you want me to still treat and respect you as my instructor, focus on the other students but me.”

The shock on Heaton’s face reflected on mine like I’m looking into a mirror.

I could sense in Goth girl’s voice that she’s not kidding about all this. Is my existence not bothering her? Doesn’t she know I’m right behind her?

I feel awkward having to stand here, and witness the whole thing.

“What makes you think I like you back?” Greg asked, fully recovered from a shock.

“I never said anything about you liking me back. I’m just giving you a heads up, and a warning.”

Heaton sighed as he adjusted his square glasses that is hanging around his sweaty nose.

“Alright. Scratch that. Let’s just say I asked this, what makes you think I’ll like you back?”

I noticed Goth girl shrugged to slide the strap of her bag back to her skinny shoulders.

“Oh you will.” She said, cupping her hands on the end of the table between them, “Because in my world, I always get who I want.”

She.. She used my line.

SERIOUSLY, who is this girl?
