I lowered the driver seat window as I drive through the long road to Levinstein College. My left arm extended out the window to let the smoke out from my cigarette. I can’t help but think why my father placed a school on an isolated part of this city. I mean come on, why build a school right near the woods?I noticed a figure appearing in the distance. I smiled. The only human at my school who wears all black. There she goes, back to her usual appearance.
I overtook her, and put half my face out the window.
“Hey! You just walk all the way to school?” I said with a scoff.
She turned to me with a blank expression on her face. Not happy, not sad, nothing.. My eyes looked down to her lips dark as hell. I remembered the pink, glossy lips I witnessed last night.
I sighed.
She turned her back on me then continued ascending the terrain.
“Hop in! I’m also on the way over there.” I offered.“Leave me alone.” She immediately refused, not even looking at me.
What’s with that attitude? I’m being nice here.I don’t like you.
Those words repeated as she slowly walk away.
I noticed she’s carrying something because her arms are tightly tucked into something concealed with a piece of black silk.
It doesn’t feel right. There’s something dripping. I stepped out of my car to see it clearly.
I was right. It’s blood.
A long line of blood flowing from her arms.
“Goth gi- I mean, Hera, are you hurt?” I manage to spoke. "
I was about to grab her arm when she suddenly started sprinting away.
“I said leave me alone!”
She’s fast. That scene was fast. A car from behind appeared out of nowhere, and hit her that made her fall down the ground.
“YOU FUCKING BASTARD!”
I sped up and followed the car that didn’t even bothered to help her.
How useless and most importantly, how stupid can I be to following a speeding vehicle?I went back only to see Goth girl, still on the ground, wrapping something in the black silk. Slowly, I saw what she was tucking between her arms.
It was a dead puppy. The blood from her arms was from the puppy.“Hey, are you okay?” I asked.
“I’m fine.” She replied, still wrapping the animal.
“Is it yours? Sorry for your lost.”
“It’s a crime, yes but you are not the one who killed her.” She said, still not looking at me, “Your sorry is useless as always.”
I raised an eyebrow. I was being sympathetic here, or is it emphatic? Stupid. Like that’s what’s important right now.
This woman made me doubt my wits.
“Here. Let me help.” I offered, already folding the cloth over the dog.
I know she’s hurt. I know her arm hurt because I saw how that reckless driver ran over her. That is why she’s using only one hand.
“Can you stand?” I asked.
She just nodded, about to carry the dog again but I stopped her.
I took the dog and placed it gently on my forearm.
She didn’t say anything. Just remove some dirt on her clothes then continued walking.
“Uhm. Let’s use my car. It’s faster.”
She ignored me.It’s like I’m not here. It’s like I’m just a part of the air.
We continued walking until we reached the top hill. From here, you could see the bright lights of Levinstein college.
We’re almost near..
I stared at the dead animal for a good second, and it hit me. Is she going to bring this dead dog in school?! Or should I say, am I?
I refrained myself from asking any more questions because I never get a straight answer from her.
What have I gotten myself into?
I was busy talking to myself when she suddenly stopped and turned right. I quietly followed her and watch what she’s about to do. She sat on the ground right near the cliff and placed her bag beside her.
The shock on my face reflected on the small shiny mattock she just pulled out of her bag.
“How are you able to enter the school with that thing?! Aren’t there security guards everywhere?”
She started swinging the mattock hardly on the ground making me uncomfortable on how strong she was.
“Trust me, you don’t wanna know.”
“Maybe I should be the one to dig.”
She halted, turning to me, looking at me with those dark eyes. Where’s the green eyed girl I met last night? Her eyes must be hurting because of those contact lenses. You could see actual redness surrounding them.
She pointed the tool at me.
“Or maybe not.” I muttered.
Strong and scary girl. Seriously, what have I gotten myself into?
As she was mercilessly digging a hole, I noticed a chunk of red hair dangling from her ear. A big proof that she’s wearing a black wig.
