Maria's POV

Jesse texted me about Matt liking Rach. I should have known one day Matt would like a girl, but Rachael. Why her? I mean why not me? It didn't matter, I liked him a long time ago anyway and Rach liked him much more than anyone so I was happy for her.

I talked about this to Julie and she was ecstatic. Then I asked her if she though Rach knew just when Rachael walked in. This was going to be interesting.

We somehow persuaded Rachael that some guys liked us. When the conversation dropped, Rachael looked so happy, I didn't know if it was because two boys liked Julie and I or if she really knew.

"So, um.. I'm kinda hungry, could we go downstairs to watch a movie and eat popcorn or something?" I was feeling so uncomfortable for some reason.

Rachael looked at me as if she snapped out of her happiness, "Oh, yeah.. yeah, we should go watch a movie. Mean Girls or Notebook, you pick..."

I was observing Rachael throughout the movie, not to be creepy, but something was up. She kept looking at her cell phone as if expecting a call. She knew, I knew that she knew. Why else would she check her phone unless it was because her mom told her something. This was so annoying, what in the world was going through her head?

Rachael's POV

Maria asked if we could watch a movie in a concerned voice which frightened me. She had a zillion boyfriends, in which she would break up within a day. Her longest relationship was for one week, which is quite an accomplishment for her. She had blonde hair that reached the shoulders of her back and made her look gorgeous, she had brown eyes and she liked boys A LOT!

She was never the type you would take seriously, maybe it was because I was leaving. She was my best friend for four years and I knew something was up.

I looked at her trying to keep my happy, "Oh, yeah.. yeah, we should go watch a movie. Mean Girls or Notebook, you pick..."

We ended up watching mean girls because we don't like to watch movies that make us cry so much, although I prefer those types.

For the duration of the movie I could feel Maria's eyes glued onto what I was doing. Because of this I would keep looking at my phone as to check if she was looking to me.

"Hahahaha.. I love this movie, it is hil-a-rious! Wow..." Julie said giggling.

My gaze from Maria traveled to Julie and I tried to laugh but it came out as a croak, then Julie fell to the floor laughing and pointing at me.

Then Maria began laughing, "hey wha- guys come on stop laughing at me that was an accident."

"When you become an actress make sure you don't laugh like that," Maria laughed.

I froze, "Actress? Umm... Where did you get that from?"

"We heard you talking to Ms. Josi. Hahaha... ", Julie said trying to stand up.

"Oh, well haha.. what did you think about that?" I said trying not to seem to serious.

"You are good at sucking up to a teacher, thats what I thought, no wonder you have straight A's." Maria said in a joking voice.

"Oh, um.. yeah I said that to um.. suck up to the teacher. ha.. ha..." I tried to seem enthusiastic.

The doorbell rang, this time it was the pizza guy, just on time!

I told Maria and Julie to go upstairs and that I would be right there.

"Hey.. here is the.. Derek?" I was so surprised.

"Oh, hey there Rach. Um here is your pizza. I heard you were leaving so um... Well, I wish you luck in your new school." He said with a fake smile.

"Yeah, well thanks. Oh here is the money, you can keep the change." I said, I really wanted him to leave.

"Oh no problem", he began walking away.

"Wait a sec, um.. tomorrow my friends and I are.. well we are going for a movie and you should come, if you want. Its at two if you want to join you know cause I'm leaving...", I realized I was babbling.

"Sure, maybe if I have time.", he went on his motorbike and drove away.

Oh no, I did it again. Why do I always have to be nice. Tomorrow when I'm with everyone, I will only want to be with Matt and I knew Derek would get jealous and I didn't want for that. He was such a nice guy, his hair was brunette like mine. It was wavy and his eyes were the most beautiful shade of green. He did nearly every sport the school would offer, and when I didn't like Matt I liked him.

I went upstairs with the pizza box.

"Took you long enough." I heard a voice say.

I snapped back to reality, "Oh well, there was a slight mix up but it got sorted out."

Maria knew that something was up but was kind not to ask what. I didn't want to tell them what just happened, although they would find out tomorrow anyway if Derek decided to come of course. They never knew the story of Derek and I, I just could not tell them. Also, Matt started liking me! I couldn't let this ruin my one chance!

Derek's POV

Wow, Rach just looked so adorable today with her beautiful brunette hair that you could easily put your hands through and her gorgeous sky blue eyes to complete the look. I made sure I got the order to go to her house which I managed to do stealthily. I was going tomorrow no matter what, maybe I could have one chance with her. I mean, she wasted a year waiting for that one dork, that stupid guy Matt my mortal enemy.

I despised that dude. All he did was break girls heart and somehow I lost Rachael to that loser. In the middle of the school year I asked Rachael out. She said yes but came to my house and offered to be friends. Just friends!

"Hey Derek, about today..." Rachael said looking at her feet.

"Yeah, I was thinking bout this new restaurant, really great! And it has -" I was stopped by Rachael.

"See, Derek, could we be friends I -" She stopped.

"What's wrong with me? We've been good friends for two years now. I really liked you for two months so I decided to ask you out!" I was screaming now.

"Derek, I really like Matt and you know that, I'm sorry-" She replied.

"You're sorry! Matt! Really? He will never like you like I do!", I screamed.

"Don't say that!" She said really angry now.

"What? You believe that on day that jerk face will fall for you? You know what forget it. I don't want you to be friends with me anymore. I am always there with you when you cry and I'm the only one who knows what your passion is because you can't tell anyone else! You know what, forget it, I'll forget you!", I slammed the door in her face and punched the wall really hard!

I still remember that as a vivid picture, but somehow it all subsided because my feelings for her never vanished. When I heard she was leaving my heart just told me to make up with her at least. So I made sure that I was able to talk to her before she left. Maybe even say sorry...
