Matt's POV
It was time to go to Rachael's goodbye party so I picked up Rebecca and drove to the mall. Since we had a couple minutes to spare we made out in the car when Jake knocked on the glass door, "Yo, get a room!"
"Dude, seriously what's your problem?", I said in a really stern voice.
"Haha.. chill. Come on we're eating lunch and then going for the movie."
"Fine, come on Becca."
Soon after I saw the girls and one that stood out was Rach. Why didn't she dress up like that at school? She was hot! I shook my head as Jesse came up to me smirking, "Thought you had "stuff" to do man."
I had a fake laugh, "um.. yeah well it cleared up.."
I put my arm around Rebecca and saw Rachael look at me with disgust. What did I do?
To clear the awkward silence Maria said, "So where we going for lunch?"
"Oh, lets go to KFC!" Jake demanded.
"It's Rachael's last day and KFC? ughhh.. I always decide! We'll go to Versailles! Your favorite Rach!" said Julie.
Rachael looked as if she were looking for someone. She was so cute she looked like she was lost... What am I doing! No, I'm not supposed to like her! I'm here with Becca.
"Rachael?" Rebecca asked.
"Oh, yeah lets go to KFC." she said as if she didn't care.
"Come on sleepy head lets go to Versailles." Maria dragged her and all of us followed after them.
"So, um... When exactly are you leaving Rach?" I asked. I needed to talk to her.
"Oh, in three days, but I have to pack and all so I'm only allowed to go out today.", She replied with no interest in her voice which irritated me. She always longed for me to talk to her, and I'm talking to her so now what does she want!
"Oh, cool... So we'll all miss you." I said stupidly.
"Oh yeah." She looked at me as if I were a freak.
Maria interrupted, "Haha.. well... what do you guys want?"

Rachael's POV
I woke up so early this morning to pick the most amazing dress that clung to my body. Matt was going to love this!
When we got to the mall I could not think of anyone else but him. Julie and Maria talked the whole way to the mall while I sat there thinking, Maria noticed everything that was going on. She probably thought I knew about Matt so that is why I dolled up and was so quiet.
The boy's as usual arrived late. I saw Matt get out of his car, I was ecstatic until I saw Rebecca. What was she doing here? I didn't invite her! She was with Matt again? I was furious and I wanted to kill that idiot, Matt!
Jesse went up to him and said, "Thought you had "stuff" to do man."
Yeah, I wish he never came and went to do his "stuff".
He had that fake laugh, "um.. yeah well it cleared up..", putting his arm around that man stealer Becca!
He disgusted me, I wanted to puke right then. How did I ever even like this guy! All at once I remembered I invited Derek. Ok, no more mister nice guy I'm going to show you Mr. Matt how much better I am than Rebecca.
I was searching for Derek and all I heard was KFC. Was he going to come? Where in the world was he when you needed him?
When walking into the restaurant Matt began talking to me totally ignoring Rebecca. Ok, first you bring a date to my goodbye party then you ditch her for me? Who did he think he was? I tried to sit as far away from Matt but he ended up sitting across me with Rebecca next to him.
My cell phone rang, "Hello?"
"Oh hey, well I came and I can't find you... so mind telling me where you are or was this a joke." he laughed.
Why did I ever doubt this guy, "Haha, we're in a restaurant hun." Ok I don't know why I called him "hun" but the look on Matt's face was priceless. So I played with the conversation a bit more.
"Wha- oh, but which restaurant, really I'm lost."
"Oh, come on baby, my favorite one don't you remember?"
"Oh, well, not really sorry." I could hear him laugh, "I see you!"
I hung up and brought him to the table to sit next to me. I looked at Maria's and Julie's face, their mouths were literally hanging open. As for Matt, he looked as if he were about to cry. Rebecca, Jake, and Jesse were just there to witness the scene.
I held Derek's hand, "Hey I'm really glad you could make it. Sorry I forgot to tell you guys that invited Derek. You know him right?"
They all nodded dumbstruck.
Julie quickly replied with a giggle, "Should have known something was going on between you two."
Both of us glanced at each other and I felt myself blush. Maybe, I should have dated Derek, but it was to late.
"Yeah, but I'm leaving so-"
Derek interrupted, "Yeah, she is leaving so we were planning a long distance relationship. You know because we really like each other."
What? I didn't like you? How could you say that? Why in the world would you tell such a lie. I looked over to Matt's face and he looked so jealous. Sure, I really liked Derek and had a wide smile on my face by what I was doing to Matt.
I put my hand through Derek's hair, "Yeah, maybe a long distance relationship. Only if Derek is good." I said in a really flirty voice. Matt got up and said he needed to leave the table to go to the bathroom.
This wasn't supposed to happen, I'm not supposed to use Derek to make Matt jealous, and I don't want Matt to be so sad that he needs to leave the table.
"I need to go as well." I said swiftly. I didn't know what I was doing but my reactions were fast.

Derek's POV
I arrived late as my job stopped me. But the whole time on the phone I knew Matt was there and she was trying to make him jealous. When she began flirting with me; it confirmed my suspicions.
The only reason I said we would maintain a long distance relationship is because it drove Matt mad. He wanted her, and I knew it. Matt wasn't going to get her, so I made a white lie which I could use against Rachael.
"Ok, I'll see you later babes. Don't be long" I said as nice as I could as she ran to the bathroom.
She wasn't going to tell him the truth, I knew her to well.

Maria's POV
I knew it! She knew the whole car ride. And what was up with Derek? Where did he come from? Were they really dating? How could she not tell me about them. That's why Derek refused to be with me, because he was with her!
Derek.
I crushed on him for two years. I liked him so much, how could she steal him from me? Well, she didn't know that I liked him. But still! Why didn't she tell me about them? I thought we were best friends, but I guess I was wrong this whole time...
