I woke up by my friend Malaya just saying my name. I saw her smiling face looking at me.

"Alana. It's time to pack." she said than went to pack her things. She was such a pretty girl with her dark brown hair, gorgeous green eyes and freckles on her face.

I got out of bed and started brushing my strawberry blonde hair. I changed out of my pajamas and put on my blue tank top and jean shorts. I was excited. It was the final day of camp and we were going home. I was also going to middle school for the first time with my best friend. I was originally home schooled, but this year I was going to public school.

After 5 hours of driving on a bus, we made it to the parent pick up place. I saw my mom and sister waiting for me in the car. I said goodbye to Malaya and went to the car.

"Alana, we need to talk." my mom looked really nervous.

"What's up?" I asked trying to think it's nothing bad.

"Remember when I said that when we get you into a charter school, we would pull you out of public school? Well the school called and said they had room for a 12 year old (me) and a 10 year old (my sister). I know it's not what you wanted but this is a miracle. We have to jump at the chance."

I could not believe what was happening. I was so excited to go to school, but now I'm going to a place where I know nobody. Tears were coming through my blue eyes and running down my rosy cheeks. The rest of the way home was silent. When I got home, I ran into my room and started texting my friend Carly. Carly was my best friend who I was going to school with. Her red hair always had a slight curl at the bottom. She was so shocked at this.

"I was so looking forward to you coming to school with me."

    "It's my parents decision."

    "Well, whatever happens, happens."

"I got to go. My mom wants me to look at the folder they sent."

I looked at the folder and went through the papers. I guess this is my new school. Everest Preparatory School.
