❦ Chapter Three = His Death
[A/N: Listen to Nina Nesbitt's The Hardest Part while reading! xD] idek
For a moment right there, I feel like the angels were carrying me around. I didn't know why I did that, or why I let him do that. I rode my car then drove to the cemetery.
I took my phone from my pocket then started texting..
'Mom, I'll be sleeping here at Heather's. She kinda needs my company right now. See you tomorrow love ya'
*message sent to Mom*
I feel bad for lying. But that was my only escape.
I arrived at the cemetery and I walked towards Lucas's grave.
I sat there and cried. "Hey, Lucas.. I was late. I went to that concert you promised me you'd take me to." I wiped my tears. I chuckled a bit and thought 'What am I doing? I'm talking to my dead boyfriend..'
"What are you doing here at this time of night?" someone asked. I turned around and saw Mrs. Schmidt, Lucas's mother standing there.
"Hello, Mrs. Schmidt.." I whispered.
She sat beside me, "Do you come here often?" she asked.
I nodded, "It must hurt.. losing your own son. I swear, Mrs. Schmidt, I know how it feels. It hurts enough to lose him.. as a friend.. as a partner."
"Yes, but sometimes we should let go of some things, dear." she said as she stroked my hair, "we should let go.. sometimes, holding on hurts even more."
So you moved on? What? Why? I'm just his girlfriend and I can't move on, it's been like.. four months.
I nodded, "I love him,"
"I know, dear.. do you know how much he loves you? He loves you twice as you do."
My tears fell. I miss you, Lucas. And I'd give anything just to be with you again. The hardest part is that.. I can't be with you anymore. The saddest part is that.. you left me.
"Mrs. Schmidt?" I started, "can I ask you something?"
"Go on.."
"How did Lucas die?" I swear, I don't know why. They never told me why.
I remember how everything happened;
"Yeah sure, I love that restaurant.." I asked, I couldn't hide my excitement, this would be my special night with him.
"Alright, babe. Pick you up at seven?" Lucas asked over the phone.
"Sounds perfect," I giggled.
"I love you.."
"I'll love you five-ever, Lucas."
"Five-ever?" he chuckled.
"Because that's more than 'four-ever' " I said.
"I'm so lucky to have you as my girlfriend. I'd wait for that day you'd be in that white dress, walking down the aisle.. and me waiting by the altar.. I love you.." he said then he chuckled.
"Awe, Lucas.. See you later, I love you.. I have to go, Ms. Reed might hear me, I'm in detention. I love you." Then, I hung up. I wore the perfect outfit for that night, I looked my best that night.
I stood by our porch while I waited for Lucas..
I checked the time; 8:42 PM.
I called his phone a few times. Well, 22 calls? Not a few times. And all of those were unanswered.
