Jennifer Lopez as Isabelle
__________________Lord these bills. I was trying to figure out how I was going to get all my utilities paid. Samson said I had to move out of Will and Kaia's house. I got a two bedroom apartment in a middle class neighborhood on the South side of the city. It was mostly other Hispanic families or blacks. Surprisingly, it was really quite and peaceful. I sighed loudly and got up from the kitchen table. I don't have any children. Which is one of my regrets. So it gets quite lonely at times. My family got deported when I was thirteen years old. I would love to visit them, but they are afraid I won't be able to return back to the States so I just do allot of writing to them or make phone calls.
It was getting late in the evening and I hadn't walked my dog all day. So I decided to grab a jacket and see if he wanted to go for a walk before bed. "Turq? You want to go for a walk boy? Come to mommy let's go boy."He ran up to me. "Leash?"
He licked my hand and ran over to his box looking for his leash.
He is about six months. Someone just left him in a pin behind a supermarket. I was afraid to go near him at first, but it was something about his eyes. When I walked over to him he walked in front of my and sat down. I felt so safe and I knew then he was mine. I named him Turq because he had a turquoise teddy bear with him. And he always sleeps with it. Well he did until I became a teddy bear.
I hooked his leash to his collar and he sat next to me while I unlocked the door. I grabbed my phone off the coffee table and locked the door back as we stepped outside.
Turq pushed the door open with his face as he always did.
I didn't teach him that he just started doing it.
We started our walk down to the park. We passed a few families having get togethers cookouts. The Fourth of July is almost here so I'm sure allot of people are entertaining their families.
It wasn't a long walk. Turq put paws on my arms letting me know he was ready to go play and wanted me to take his leash off his collar. I did and hung it up on the rack. He went in the 6-8 month section and I closed the cage back and went to go sit on a bench.
With all this free time I began to draw again. I forgot how relaxing it is. I put my earbuds in my ear and pressed play on my Bible.
I haven't been going to church lately.
I felt someone sit next to me. I looked over and it was Kay.
I took a deep breath. "What are you doing here?
She took my earbuds out. "I just wanted to sit with you. That's all."
I didn't know how to take that statement. I didn't know what to say so I just nodded my head.
"How did you know I was here?"
She smiled. "I didn't. I was just over here to get my hair done. You know Sandy?"
"Yeah. She does your hair?"
She shook her hair making all her curls move freely. "Yes girl. Her and Kaia are the only person besides me that can be in my head. Ever."
I laughed at the seriousness in her tone. "I see that." She looked over my shoulder. "What are you drawing?"
I slid my book over to her. "Is that..?"
"Yes for some reason I keep having dreams about her."
"How is she?"
Kay stood up. " I don't know. Her foster mom changed her number and I haven't talked to her since last year."
I put my head down. "Does Will and Ky know?"
"Willis never asks about her, but I can't tell Kaia. She would be so hurt. I don't know how to tell her."
