Where the sun could never make it through. Where the animals were always skittish. There lives a teenage boy. He calls himself Link. His parents told him his only job was to protect the Lost Woods and the Korok Forest.

Link always tried his best to keep intruders away. He never failed.

One day, while guiding himself through the mist near the entrance, he heard a voice, a girl's voice.

"All I have to do is light these torches and follow the embers. Hmm that doesn't seem difficult."

Link hid behind a tree amd watched carefully. He saw a torch and a blonde haired girl. She had one on her hip and one hand was holding the torch.

The girl lit a torch in the middle and waited. The ember leaned right. Straight in Link's direction. The girl followed them until she came to a complete stop.

"Where is the other torch?" she asked a bit frustrated.

Link chose now to speak up.

"I can help you." His voice could only be described as an angel's.

   The girl shivered.

   "Who said that?"

Link revealed himself and raised his hand.

   "I did."

The girl was lost in his deep blue eyes for what seemed like forever. He was starting to get a bit embarrassed.

"So you can really...help me?" she asked quietly.

Link combed his hand through his naturally tousled dirty blonde hair. He knew he could help her out. For a price.

"I will under a few conditions." he took a step closer.

The blonde stayed frozen to the spot.

   "What conditions?"

"First," he put up one finger, "You tell me your name. Second, you follow without question, and third, you rescue me."

"My name is Zelda and I'm not sure if I have the time to rescue you."

"Well then Zelda, looks like I don't have the time to bring you to your destination."

Link had tears in his eyes as he turned away. He hoped today would be the day someone rescued him from the Great Deku Tree's grip. Not that he had hands. The Deku Tree wanted him to pull the sword from the pedastal, but Link wasn't sure if he could do it. Something about inner strength.

Zelda tapped on Link's shoulder and whispered, "Why do you need to be rescued?"

Link wiped his tears and spun around quick enough to scare Zelda back.

"I'm not strong enough." he replied.

Zelda crossed her arms over her chest.

"Not strong enough for what?" she asked, irritated.

Link sat on the forest floor and motioned for her to do the same.

"I can't pull the sword in Korok Forest."

Zelda pulled blades of grass from the ground and braided them, "Why do you have to pull it?"

"To prove that I'm strong enough to leave and explore Hyrule."

Zelda stared at Link and felt a twinge of sympathy.

"I've always wanted to explore to. This is the farthest I've ever been away from home. My parents are..."

   Link finished her sentence, "Overprotective."

   "Yeah."

   Link thought for a moment.

   'The complete opposite of mine.'
