Lilliana cowered under her mother's glare,"What in the world were you thinking?"Queen Grace asked in that cold calm way that told Lilliana just how badly she messed up.
"I..she...She needed help mom, that man was gonna to hurt her and her baby." Lillana said her knees shaking.
"What if he hurt you. You are a child Lilliana, how exactly did you plan to stop a full grown man?" Grace asked. Lilliana didnt know what to say. She hadn't thought that far ahead, she just saw that someone needed to help that woman and went to help.
"She needed help." Lilliana repeated tears forming in her eyes.
"For God sake Lilliana Wren Somalia, you are a prinesss you need to start acting like one. You can not just go around doing whatever you want without thinking about the consequences of your actions!" Grace yelled letting her famous composure slip. She was so scared and mad at her that she forgot where she was.
A firm hand gripped her shoulder,"I think she gets it my queen." Grace turbed to see Sir Wallace behind her and brought her attention back to Lilliana. Grace instantly regretted everything she had just said. Lilliana was so scared that she had started sobbing.
"Im sorry mommy. Im sorry. Im sorry." she kept repeating over and over seemingly unable to stop. Grace then looked over to Brianna and saw that she was so scared that she had hidden herself in the carriage. Regret cut into her like knives and brought tears to her eyes. Queen Grace put her head into her her hands and took a long deep breath to calm herself," Sir Wallace, escort Lilliana the rest of the way into the village and allow her to accompany you as you fulfill your duties. I need some time to settle myself." Queen Grace said and walked back into the carriage and gave the order for the caravan to continue.
Wallace went over to Lilliana and helped her up,"Hello little princess, you're not very cute when you cry." he said gently wiping her years away.
Lilliana threw herself at him and started sobbing anew,"Mommy hates me! Im a bad princess and now she's never gonna talk to me again."she cried.
Wallace laughed and hosted the princess up in the air,"You silly little girl. The queen loves you more than anything in the whole world. That's why she yelled at you like that." he said. When Lilliana just stared at him perplexed he contiuned,"Ive known your mother since she was your age and only one thing can get her to yell like that;when someone she loves was hurt or threatened. She wasn't mad at you Lily, she was scared."
"Scared?" Lilliana asked. She could imagen her mother being scared. Her mom was always strong and in control, always doing the right thing.
Wallace nodded,"Yes scared. She was probably terrified that that man was going to hurt you and that she wouldn't be able to do anything to save you." he said.
"I didn't mean to scare her. I just wanted to help that mother and her child."Lilliana said feeling guilty.
"I know that princess but what you did was very dangerous. You should never rush blindly into a situation without a plan even if you're trying to help. You could end up making things alot worse for everyone involved. Do you understand?" Sir Wallace explained. Lilliana nodded and wiped her eyes.
"What should I do to make mother forgive me?"she asked.
"Right now I think we should give her some space to calm down. How about we do what she wanted and head into town together. You can help me with my knightly duties." he said.
Lilliana immdently brighten up,"Are we going to fight bandits and save maidens?" she asked practically bouncing with excitement.
Wallace laughed,"Nothing quite that exciting I'm afraid. Mostly we're going to delegate responsibilities to the other knights and help keep the peace." he said.
