General Comment: This one is a Hunger Games fan fiction including the district 3 victor (Beetee Latier) introduced in the second book; Catching Fire. I first considered writing this a while ago after wanting to write a fan fiction on one of the victors from CF, then deciding that Johanna and Finnick were both equally too popular.
Title: Electricity: Beetee's Games
Genre/s: Fan Fiction
Summary:
Genivye Conuloss's voice boomed around the tightly packed compound of the rubble that was the main square of District 3. There was no answer from the crowd that stared with empty, sorrowful eyes up at her, waiting for this to be over and wanting to continue with their work that always seemed to conspire with the grief that they experienced each day. The mountainous woman was getting tired of the lack of response when she had read the names each year, and this was the last straw. She puffed angrily the tributes name once more - screeched, rather. The crowd stirred, uncomfortable and bothered by both the thick, swollen air of the hot afternoon and the general viciousness of the woman who was supposed to help their tributes' each year, yet ended up doing the precise opposite.
A short twig of a boy stumbled from the crowd, shoved by various hands and fists into the broad daylight, persperation flowing silently down his sticky temple. Genivye frowned. She longed for the day when a victor would emerge from the swarm of people, proud and strong, and she would move onto a better district. She'd looked forward to District 2 ever since she began this job, yet had never achieved such presence of the district. This boy whose eyes were dowsed with tears, whose body was so small and held no sign of any muscle, whose jet black hair was greasy and matted with dirt and sweat, was never going to make it past the blood bath. Whose name was going to make it into history; whose name was Beetee Latier.
