I sat on the chair next to Mia like I did every day for the past 4 months. Ava would usually come but I didn't want her to come since she was losing sleep and I had to take care of her. Ava was confused to why I was treating her like she was fragile and would give me weird looks but I promised Mia and I won't break a promise again.
I broke a promise when we were little and I'm not going to do it again since it changed our relationship. "Max" Zoe said looking at the floor playing with her hands. "Hmm" I hummed and she sighed, "Do you like my sister?" I was shocked at the question at first but yeah, i definitley know that I like Mia Daniels. "Yeah" I breathed out and she stared at me. "I can see it in the way you look at her.. but I don't want her to get hurt.." Zoe sighed closing her eyes for a brief second.
What look?
As if reading my mind she laughed placing her hand on my leg, "The love sick look" she smiled glancing at me. "Love sick?" I repeated and she nodded, "Yeah, I know this is new to you but seriously you are in love" She sang the last two words and I chuckled. "Hey" a soft voice came from the left of me and I whipped my head towards the door, my eyes meeting Ava.
She wore a sweatpants and Mia's hoodie. I actually siad she could wear it for comfort. In school it's glum. The kids send us sympathetic looks and the teachers excuse us from snapping at them because they know we were close Mia. "Ava, how are you?" Zoe asked bringing me back to reality.
"Fine and you?" She siad looking away from us and looked over at Mia. Couldn't I be the one in the coma? Why must it be this sweet girl? "Okay I guess" Zoe sighed, I stood up and allowed Ava to sit but she declined because she wanted to be near Mia, exactly what I wanted to do. I stood on the side of her bed gripping her hand.
Ava and Zoe went to buy some hot chocolate and got fresh air, while I stayed in the room with Mia. "Mia, you look beautiful and peaceful, you are the strongest girl I have seen and I know you'll make it, it's only been four months and you doing fine, just hang in there, please" I siad my voice cracking at the end.
I felt her grip tighten slightly on my hand and I whipped my head to our hands but her hand was in the same position, only my hand tightened. My mind is playing games with my eyes... Only thing possible.
At school⇜
"Hey Max" Kim siad pressing her body against mine, I never looked into her eyes instead I looked forward, frozen on my spot. In the distance I saw Zoe looking at me shaking her head with doubt in her eyes. "Fuck off Kim" I siad finally once Zoe looked at me again in disgust and stormed off with her books pressed against her chest.
Kim glared at me before storming off to the jocks. Well luckily she knows what the word 'no' means this time. I rolled my eyes in my thoughts and hurriedly walked to my locker. Just when I was going to make my way to my locker I bumped into someone, a shriek was heard and I groaned at the impact. "What the actual hell" I exclaimed looking at the person I bumped in.
"Mia?" I mumbled in a question and the girl gave me a confused look. "Huh?" she siad raising a brow. I took a step back when I realised my mind was playing with my eyes again. "Uhrm, Sorry nothing." I mumbled and she nodded.

"No! Max put me down!" Mia squealed as I made my way towards the pool. "Max you will regret this!" She yelled hitting my back and I laughed and she kicked in the air, "I do not find this amusing you idiots" She yelled at Ava and Zoe. Before she could protest again I let her go and she fell in the pool. Once she came to surface she glared making a fountain in the air with water that was in her mouth, her blue waist length hair sticking to her face and her white shirt showing her shocking pink bra.
"Help me out" She pouted holding her hand out. I stared at her and finally took her hand and she caught me off guard pulling me in the pool with her and she laughed swimming away from me. I caught Mia by the waist pulling her towards me, "Gotcha" I whispered and she wrapped her legs around my torso and arms around my neck while my hands were snaked around her waist our foreheads leaning against each other.
"Couple goals!" Ava cheered as she snapped a picture and I dropped Mia out of my hold by surprise and she fell in the pool. Once she came to the surface glaring at me, “WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL!?” She exclaimed crossing her arms over her chest. "I got to go now, bye" She whispered pecking my lips.
I jumped up in my bed searching for Mia and saw that once again it was emptiness. She wasn't there and I couldn't accept it... It was and still is scary. My breathing was heavy and i looked over at the time and saw it was 06:30 in the morning, I sighed swinging my legs off the bed.
