Annabeth POV

I think things could work out.

Okay key word, think. Percy couldn't be more... hostile, towards Luke. He did say he would try to contain his feelings, but he always gives him the cold shoulder. And the cold everything else.

I mean I guess I shouldn't've expected him to immediately warm up to him, but I thought maybe he would give him a chance. I guess I was wrong. I'm trying to get Luke readjusted, so I don't get to see Percy much anymore. It really hurts, but if he wants to be immature about this then so be it.

I thought about all this while letting out my anger on a straw dummy in the training arena. I mercilessly stabbed and slashed at it until there was nothing but a pile of straw and cloth. I huffed in exhaustion and wiped the sweat from my forehead.

I heard footsteps behind me and I whirled around to see Percy approaching me. I smiled a little at him and he said, "Hey, Annabeth." When he was close enough he wound his arms around my waist.

"Hey, Seaweed Brain," I said, tousling his hair a little bit.

"I was wondering if you wanted to go on a little picnic later, skip dinner? Like old times?" he asked me, a hopeful glint in his eyes.

I was readily going to say yes, a big grin on my face, but then I remembered I had other plans. "Oh, Perce. I really, really want to, but I already promised Luke that I would have a training session with him," I grimaced, waiting for his cold shoulder.

"Oh, of course you do, that's okay I guess. Do you wanna take a walk, when you're done?"

"I would love to, but I'm pretty tired, so I'm just going to head back to my cabin when I'm finished training. I'm sorry," I replied and yawned.

"That's okay, get your rest," he whispered. "I'll just go then." He pecked my forehead and turned and began walking away.

I pouted, I do wish we could spend more time together, but I'm dedicated to getting Luke fit back in.

I sighed and picked up my dagger and moved to the next dummy, ready to disembowel it.

I left the training arena and made my way to my cabin to rest up a bit. I could see the cabins from where I stood and I began to walk towards them when I heard, "Annabeth!" from behind me.

I turned around to see Luke running towards me and I stopped. "Hey," I said and smiled at him, "what's up?"

"I want to show you something," he replied and grabbed my hand and started dragging me towards the woods.

"Wait!" I called, and stopped in my tracks.

"What?" he asked impatiently.

"I was just going to go take a nap."

"C'mon Annabeth! You never take naps, and this is important!" he said, tugging on my arm.

I hesitated, then gave in, "Fine." He grinned and we started to run towards the woods again.

We ran and ran until he got tired, but I was still energized; I smirked at him. "Tired?"

"Never," he said, and winked at me.

We walked the rest of the way, despite all of the teasing I gave him. We reached a huge tree and he began to climb. He stopped on a branch and held his hand down to me. "Psh, like I need your help," I said and climbed up past him and he laughed below me.
